| Weird SFA Explorer 8300 HDC issues
Recently, like since this week-end I have to "Reboot" my DVR to get it to work right almost every day. I have it connected via HDMI and it keep locking in 480I mode, or I get no picture at all. Last night after viewing a show recorded on my DVR, I switched back to live tv and the whole thing locked up. I could not even turn it off. I hear in another thread that Fox change the codec which is causing headache, and all my problems started after this happened. Should I call WOW and get a new DVR or does anyone have some advice to fix it? |

| reply to Jaynap So I had a new problem this week end. Magically my SFA Explorer 8300 turned on Saturday morning and said my TV is committing a copy protection violation. So I called WOW and they told me I had to call my TV manufacture to fix the problem. Just before I got to the tech the automated message said that a signal push would fix issues such as this. The tech on the phone had no clue and wanted to send out a tech. After I had the signal re-pushed everything worked just fine for 24 hours then the copy protection message came back up.. So I disconnected my HDMI and went back to component. I think WOW has made some sort of change in the Firmware of there cable box for HD and this is what is causing all of the recent issue with HD Channels. I suggest to anyone using HMDI to go back to Component connection thats what fixed my issues. Can any one confirm if there was an update to the firmware in the HD boxes for WOW? Never had any issues like this until last week-end (9-26) |

| reply to Jaynap sometimes, at power on or channel changing, if you have hdmi from cable box to receiver to tv; you will see that message. HDCP (the copy protection for hdmi) problems creep up from time to time in the above connection scenario. i had an onkyo model that did it; but a sony that wouldn't. so either i had to go with component or send the hdmi right to the tv; and run audio to the receiver separately. |
