The information described in this page is pretty similar to what I did. Instead of "disabling" the services I simply changed them to "manual". I actually use them so it was a better solution in my case. If your laptop isn't included in a network situation then you could probably disable them. others here would be able to better describe the implications of doing so.

I will try to find the page with the registry changes too. Sorry it took so long to reply. I had some IRL issues I had to get taken care of. Let me know if this helps. If not I will keep looking. Like I said, the information I found before definitely fixed my issue.

Sith HMP posted : Are you running XP or Vista. I had this problem on my Dell laptop and fixed it. The solution is OS specific though. If I remember correctly it's just a matter of starting and stopping some services. There is also a registry adjustment that worked too.

It is not a temporary fix. After doing so the problem has not returned. I believe I had the problem about 6 months ago.

I am at work right now and have the solution website saved on my laptop at home. Let me know if you are interested and I will post the link today when I get home from work in about 7 hours.

OT: The thought of 7 more hours at work is killing me right now. :)
