| If it wasn't so sad, I'd laugh that the link you've provided headlines: Ontario discusses HST break for mutual fund industry
Because we all know the Mutual Fund industry represents Main Street Canadians -- The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is. Winston Churchill |

All those little micro and home based businesses that didn't have to charge GST as they were under the $30,000.00 threshold will now hit you up for the HST. |

There are tens of thousands of small businesses that don't need this headache. As you know the PST and GST threshold and implementations have been regulated differently. If you don't mind. What was your source on this? |

Now for HST, the $30,000 is going to be used.

I definitely do not like the move to HST but deepthroat you need to read a bit more from reliable sources. |

Oh the Mutual Fund industry wants a break but the rest of us can pay it on our home heating oil for instance. Aren't these the same scum bags who pushed questionable financials in order to pad their pockets with commissions? Isn't this an industry that disproportionally caters to a class of society that is wealthy enough to invest vast sums of money? But they want a break on paying $52.00 a year per $20,00.00 invested. Cry me a river. |

Thus my statement "As you know the PST and GST threshold and implementations have been regulated differently." As this is an amalgamation of federal and provincial tax regimes there is bound to be some confusion.
I definitely do not like the move to HST but deepthroat you need to read a bit more from reliable sources. The regulations have not been finalized for this and as such there is no reliable source even the Ministry itself. It is merely a statement of intent, or interm appeasement depending on your perspective. That said can we count on this in the final legislation? I hope so. |

| reply to WUTRULOOKNAT This will hurt condo fees immensely.
For example if your condo corp has $1,000,000 in it's reserve fund, according to condo laws you will need $80,000 instantly to cover the HST + your condo fees will increase %8 instantly.
If there are 80 units in your corp you may get a knock on the door asking for $1,000 instantly. |

It's the yoyo apples that I'm worried about. Another blow to the apple farmers of Ontario. Per the government propaganda website, the costs of consumer goods will drop.
Farmers especially will benefit, per the Ontario propaganda website. This in turn will lead to lowers costs for YoYo (and all farmers) and all these reduced costs will be passed onto the consumer who will benifit from lower costs at the super market and at other consumer stores.
Prices will drop, YoYo will sell more, more money and more sales due to being able to compete more. Can't wait till he drops the price of his apples. Maybe he will charge 5$ for ~30 apples like in Quebec now?
But yup, all this can be found on the Ontario government propaganda website. |

Only a true misguided politician would say this. |
