| reply to leer Re: [Spoiler] Stargate Universe kinda sucked...IMO...
said by leer :**You know what else was kinda dumb. The whole shuttle door scene. Why not just attach a pencil to one of those keno flying ball robots and have it descend on the " close door" button in the shuttle. Then just get the robot back when ever they land. Ha! I thought of using one of those, too. I hate it when (supposedly genius) characters in a show like this are so stupid and miss the obvious. The NASA ground crew would have had it solved in a heartbeat.
Other than that, I liked it pretty well except a couple nitpicks: I hope they keep the flashbacks to a minimum; and the flail-cam-quick-cut action scenes got old one minute into Quantum of Solace, I really hate that that crap caught on as a style. -- CO2 is not a pollutant. It feeds the starving. |

| reply to Octavean said by Octavean :I didnt much care for the computer nerd personally. His overall appearance is that of one of the sons of Dom DeLuise and I was surprised to see that he was not. Still this seems to be the type of character that will be saddled with the sophomoric jokes I had hoped would be a thing of the past. I bet the nerd ends up getting laid by some alien being.
Overall I enjoyed it. I've set a timer for it on my DVR. -- An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last. - Sir Winston Churchill |

| reply to leer I personally liked the show, in fact there wasn't a lot for me not to dislike besides some character development issues. I agree, that Dr. Rush has some major history we don't know about, and he gives off a I don't need your help, get out of my way attitude. The one problem I did have with the show was with the stones. The Col. brought them thru the gate after a frantic last minute search. How did Dr. Rush know he had them? Why didn't they show more interaction with the personnel at SGC? Dr. Rush proclaimed to the group that he was in command, after communicating with General O'neal. He also proclaimed that he had brought the stones himself. Just kinda didn't feel authentic to me at that point. I also found it interesting that after thousands of years, that the ship which left Earth with no crew, has births with linen and pillows that had not been turned into dust. | reply to juilinsandar Well in case I wasnt clear before, I liked SGU too. How much Im not entirely sure because it didnt blow me away but again I wasnt checking the time either,
.it held my attention quite firmly for ~2hrs and thats not easy to do these days.
Ill also add that Im not looking at this through rose colored glasses either. Lets face it, people are going to compare SGU to SG1 and SGA. I remember having some reservations about the SG1 premiere too which incidentally had a rather poor production value compared to SGA and SGU (likely due to a lower budget on Showtime). |

| reply to leer Give it time I know it will be a bit slow and not as action packed in the beginning. They have to develop the Character's so you know them and show you their strengths, weaknesses and flaws before they can really advance the plot lines. SGA had charters you knew about from SGC so it needed less time to move ahead. SGU is a totally new crew and concept that I feel has potential if done with style and good writing. -- ****aka The WIZARD *** A Founding member of Seti BBR Team Starfire*** |

| reply to leer SG1 was great from the second it started.
Had great actors and it was actually fun.
SGA was great right from the start. And they did a nice job of giving us fun people.
Have not watched 03 yet, but I am also not currently expecting miracles. If it can't master my interest in 3 shows, then I predict it goes no further than any other bland series. |

| reply to leer Episode 2 held me for a bit until the church scene which was way hooky. But it wasn't too bad. If they can build the action and sense of adventure and avoid the temptation to become a soap opera or go all introspective and/or mystical it might be fun. -- "Government is the great fiction, through which everybody endeavors to live at the expense of everybody else." --FREDERIC BASTIAT-- |

I dont think it hit the ground running at an extremely high level and just stayed there but rather ramped up. So in other words season one of SG1 was a bit rocky for me. It looked as if it had a lower budget and it looked as if it effected the quality of the show. |

| reply to leer I thought th second episode was ok, but they can do better. What was with that life-form on the sand planet? And I think the use of the Stones to let the crew walk around on Earth kind of kills the sense of being lost in space. And it opens up the possibility of having episodes (at least partly) set on Earth, which I'm not really interested in. -- "Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats." - H. For background, I loved the original movie and I just started watching SG1 and am in the middle of season 2 right now. I haven't seen Atlantis yet or the SG1 movies yet.
So far, I'm not too impressed with SGU. It really wants to be another BSG but it doesn't seem to cut it. It's predictable, but not in the cheezy campy fun way that SG1 sometimes was.
I really hope someone takes Baltar and the overweight Captain N: The Game Master out back and shoots them. While they are at it, clean out the rest of the whiners as well, the senators daughter should be # 3 in that line!

| I'm not a fan of the black guy with an attitude problem. Yes, there are a bunch of assholes in the military, but someone of his caliber would probably be serving food instead of being trusted with the a highly top secret project.
What was with the people just deciding to go to the other world? It just didn't make any sense from a survival stand point.
