The Flowpoint 2200 can't be used as a LAN router behind a cable modem. The 2200 WAN port expects an ADSL signal. After Efficient Networks bought Flowpoint they created the 5880 for that purpose. My question is would he be able to use it, since our cable provider issues us a dhcp address. I didn't see the option to set the wan port to dhcp, seems like it only support static IPs.

Any advice.

I already told him to just use a linksys, but he's fixed on re-using this 2200. :(
