[ ISP] Help me finding my brand and model, weird problem

Heloo all,

I am searching for 3 weeks now for an answer to my question.I posted on portforwarding.com and i was redirected here.
It all started when i changed my OS, from XP to Vista. After this, my download speed dramaticaly slowed(from torrents i had 5.5mpbs and now i can barely reach 1mbps).I`ve ade my speedtest and i got 42 mbps download and 0.80 upload.

The reason why i am posting here is because i want my ports to be opened.Every torrent client i used told me that all my ports are closed. And i don't know why...
The strange thing is that i am not using a router!
I am connected to my father(other room)and from there we are conected directly to our ISP, then to internet. The little white box we are connected to doesn't look to be a router.
And i am wondering, why my ports are blocked if no router is betwen me and the internet?I am from Romania and i am using fiberlink from cablelink.ro
The little box has 2 entries and one exit, it is going the my local ISP then directly to internet. Please tell me what's going on.
Appreciate that, Teo

How do you connect from your computer to your father's? What info is on the little white box so that we might be able to identify it? Did you upgrade just your computer or your father's as well? What kind of speeds does your father's computer get?
