1 edit | When you use the "Y" USB splitter you are making available twice the power the CDU-680 can draw. Of course more power means more heat but the Franklin specs call for operation range of 300 to 600 milliamp. At max operating current it's going to get hot. I have my 680 taped flat against a window pane. Makes a very effective heat sink as it barly gets warm.

| reply to Wartrace Well the new modem is doing the same thing. I have everything set up right, a -71dbm reading even in the field test page, good readings on everything else.
I contacted support, the call was escalated but haven't heard anything about it since (two days ago).
I guess I could drive out to a tower & check to see if it works good up close. The funny thing is, when I first got the service I could get a connection with just the usb device at my house, now I can't. |

| Well, yesterday, I started having the same problems. LOW LOW speeds in the 100-200Kbps range. Immediately, I thought "THROTTLE THROTTLE".....So, the call to Millenicom (my first)......I think they were a little stumped of the issue. Satisfactory speeds in the last week, down to nothing today. So, I guess Millenicom called Verizon. They reported the tower was "UP" (of course it was, I was on it).....I was NOT being throttled....they wanted to know all kinds of readings out of the field test screen . . .. I guess the guy was on the phone with Verizon at the moment. they even asked me my CURRENT P/N # which was 200 (which was the tower I am connected to). Same here, good readings everywhere, just poor sucky speeds. I asked him if he could tell how many people were currently on the tower, and he said no (guess verizon would have to provide that).. They said they'd call me back...I guess I'll put up with 100kbps until they call me back. Obviously, that isn't acceptable, since I been getting 900-1.2mbps consistently.
GRRRRRRRR, damn thing works great when it works (like any other electronic device I guess).

| See, that is EXACTLY the problem I am having. I am down near Wartrace (about fifty miles south of BNA) . They still haven't solved my slow speeds. EVERYTHING on my end was the same & then all of a sudden I am down to .1-.2 speeds just like you are. I have been having this problem for quite a while. I have been waiting for two days on a call back |

| I'm sure I wont get any call back soon either.. Millenicom is the middle man again..... they just have to call and ask Verizon what is wrong. My speed bumped up to around 400kbps...maybe they are working on the issue. I'm driving to the tower to see what the speed is there.

| If you have a Verizon cell phone, call support and explain the issue with EVDO signal (surmising your phone is EVDO capable), That is how you do the end-around vs Millenicom to Verizon. You are now a direct Verizon customer with an issue.

| reply to Wartrace Millenicom is sending me a new UM175 as well.....For the last couple of days I been in the 100-200Kbps speeds . . . Settings are fine . . . We seem to be having the same scenerio!
Look at these PING times! The speed during this was about 136Kbps.
Guess we'll see. The people at Millenicom are pretty good about helping you.

| reply to Kevin_H They did verify . . it was NOT a throttle. That was the first thing I asked. The weather here has been gloomy the past week...Maybe that has had something to do with it....but I thank Millenicom for trying to rectify the issue. Verizon reported 'All ok on our end'. |
