No problem. The VZ speedtest is extremely accurate, but only when the client PC is properly optimized. |

I'm running an optimized WinXP machine (several, actually). Using speedtest.net I always get results with ~35 mb/s down and 20+ mb/s up. And as you can see from my DU Meter screen grab earlier in this thread, I see ~29 mb/s up in real world situations.
Yet I just ran the Verizon speed test and it congratulated me for my service operating normally, with 32 mb/s down and 8.2 mb/s up.
If I thought that test was accurate I'd be complaining about my speeds being below par. |

| If you want, you can upload real files to the following site.
»hydra.nac.uci.edu/indiv/franklin···oad.html
You might want to upload multiple files, depending on your operating system and the settings. Just open multiple windows/tabs. I use the 512MB test files at OOL's FTP site:
»ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/
In the screen capture below, I set my meter to 25Mbps with a 10% overhead. The barely perceptible horizontal line is set at 25Mbps (just below the green...sorry if you're color blind, but it shouldn't matter), and each vertical line is spaced to represent 10 seconds of time. I polled the upstream bandwidth every 5 seconds. I witnessed a steady upload at just over 25Mbps for over 200 seconds. I'm provisioned at 25/25 at the moment, but I am signed up for the 25/15 package.
 3 Minutes+ Sustained Upload
No matter what operating system you are using, you should be able to hit your maximum by uploading multiple files. How many, and why that many, is something you would need to research. But at least you can verify what your potential could be. |

| after switching to a new pc with windows xp (with the TCP connections set too 100 from the standard 10) and a different brand NIC....i am now getting 23+ Upload speeds (on actual uploading not test sites) so im happy
im wondering though...when i ran fios optimizer its set for 25/15 even though the connection is really 25/25...would it be setting the optimization for the upload too low? |
