| So I guess....
Fall is really here. Finally turned the heat on very low in the bedroom, neighbors had fires going yesterday and Mt Hood looked great at dusk tonight, all pink and snowy.
Just curious though, why did we have to go from 80's during the day and 60's at night to this, in like 3 days?

I'm ready for carmel apples, apple pies and the leaves turning (which has already started around here). Any body have a good apple turnover recipe? At least those I can freeze into individual servings. -- Any Soldier My Gallery

| It sure is fall here! We are still waiting for the leaves to start changing, however we've had the heat on in the mornings for days now.....upper 20s to low 30s.
It feels very nice after a hot summer and a hot beverage on a cool fall evening is most excellent! Here's my favorite:
Peppermint Patty (measurements aren't exact)
3/4 coffee cup of hot cocoa Fill to top with Peppermint Schnapps Top with whipped cream.
Yummy!! |

| reply to Gizy My morning drive into work yesterday and today, through rural farmland and commercial nurseries set in the rolling hills just between Forest Grove and Salem has been AMAZING. I leave just before sunrise and yesterday, I got to watch the fog lift and shift and burn off from the hills just as the sun was peeking through.
I have really got to get a digital SLR camera and stop to take some pictures. (Hubby's fairly nice digital camera has a white balance problem that just drives me nuts) |

| reply to Gizy Can't help as to (real ) turnovers (puff is tuf to make and work with) but Alton can help you make great pie crust »www.npr.org/templates/story/stor···=4212824 so i'm thinking "pocket pies" could be frozen and cooked on demand. |

| reply to Gizy It's beginning to feel like Fall down here in the SF Bay Area too - at least here it is. Inland is having mini heat waves during the day.
It's getting into the low 40's and high 30's during the night. The days are getting to around 70 or so.
Nice.
Poor Ben does not like the cold mornings. We go outside in the morning for his business and he shivers. I'm going to have to get him a sweater or coat for the winter. -- TH ~ NE ~ EPN ~ NC ~ TD |

| reply to Gizy We have yet to turn on the heat. It sure feels good to be able to sleep without the fans going all night. First few good nights of sleep in months. -- And so it goes in life.... one minute everything is coming up roses the next you are being torn apart amongst the thorns. |

| Heat is still off really, we've just piled more blankets on the bed. During the evening when we're home it's maybe a bit chillier than it could be, but we can leave socks on and wear slippers or something. -- Come play Mafia! | My Picture Blog |

| reply to Brazbit My bedroom is draftier than the rest of the apt. but what really stinks is I just got the flannel sheets of the bed in late June and it's time to put them back on again.
But the morning drives are really nice. I've had views of the sun coming up behind Mt. Hood all week. The mountain takes on a beautiful shade of pink. |

| reply to Gizy said by Gizy :..........but what really stinks is I just got the flannel sheets of the bed in late June ...... You need to do laundry MORE often , Pinky recommends "100 pounds bleach powder, 57 pounds red dye # 2 or equivilent (stick a couple beets in a sock) 20 pounds heavy duty detergent per load" as I remember. (I could be wrong, now) Where is our washing professional when we need him? |
