We don't have a single area on our network that is the standard Canopy deployment.
We usually sit on the side of a mountain.
So we normally use Cyclone 120 Degree AP's pointed in the SAME direction, just on different channels. |

| reply to IntraLink I dont see how you can have them all on the same Freq?? but I dont think thats what he said I think he stated in the same "Band" meaning one could be on 5735 another on 5790 and another on 5835 etc..
Please correct me if I am wrong becuase we tried to stick two canopy 900 AP's on the same channel with SYNC cable in between same settings on everything and they basically did not work becuase they were both on the same channel etc..
I figured if the sync cable was workign they would not transmit at the same time as I was under the impression in other posts. -- ComTrain Certified Tower Climber. American Tower Certified approved contractor. Wireless consultants. |

| reply to IntraLink The sync along with timing parameters (correctly set or calculated) guarantees the AP's will transmit at the same time, which is BAD if they are on the same channel FACING the same direction. It only works when they are facing opposite directions and the SM's can only 'see' one of the AP's.
To do what we do you are correct, you need them to be on difference channels (at least 25MHz apart). It's really not recommended, but it does work.
The other radio(s) pointed the same direction in the same band (or 5.4 and 5.7 together which are pretty much the same radio front end) will hear the radio transmissions from the other AP's SM's anyways, but with some channel separation they seem to do ok. |

I don't anything liek that set up on 900MHz, but you might get away with it by staggering like that.
The problem with 900 vs. the higher bands is the propagation is so much larger with SM's and AP's seeing much more around it.
I these situations, we tend to just deploy and then test.
There is no real better way to know for sure, but then you have to commit to purchase all those and deploy them. |
