Icon posted : Yes, the test jack is inside the NID. If you can do that test, it will give you enough info to determine if it's something inside or outside your home.

And yes, you can give your test results to a Tech, and they can also compare what you're getting inside, versus what they can show at the NID. But you can get the jump on it first.

Burris1 posted : Icon,

Thanks for the reply. It's odd but my connection has been up for the past hour. That's the longest its been up since i posted my thread initially.

The test jack i assume is located in the NID? I guess that's why there's a customer access panel on that thing!

Are these stats, things I can show the tech to help explain what is going on?

thanks,
CB

Icon posted : Hey Burris1 , welcome to the forum. :)

Your log shows some wild swings in both the upstream and downstream signal margins. Your upload margin is wild most of the time, and isn't accurate....it's something with the way the Westells are reporting it, incorrectly at that.

You should try testing your connection at the phone box on the side of your house. There should be a test jack where you can plug in a standard phone cord (long one), and run it directly to your modem. Then check the stats again, and if possible, let it run that way for a few hrs, to gather enough info to go on. This bypasses all your inside house wiring, and directs the DSL directly to your modem. If you don't see improvements, then it's an issue before it comes in to your house. If it does improve, then you'll need to isolate what's causing the drops with the inside wiring/filters/devices plugged in inside.
