NY and LA

Where is NY or LA? They scared of their largest markets and its data traffic?

IIRC they use Comcast for backhaul on the Clearwire sites. Comcast isn't in LA or NYC that I know of?

Probably the two most challenging radio engineering environments in North America.

2010. Given the layout and topographical challenges that those two markets present, it's only logical to figure that they will take more time to build out and test. In the meantime they need to have 30 million POPs covered by the end of 2009 to satisfy the FCC so they're continuing to roll out medium sized markets. When the Chicago market is officially announced, it should be a good litmus test for how their service will perform in markets like NY and LA.

Comcast doesn't have service in Lubbock I know for sure, it's Suddenlink there.

From what's I have read, Clearwire is using their own microwave backhaul almost exclusively in new Mobile Wimax markets and then running them back to central points where it will hit fiber muxes.. either there isn't fiber in many of the WiMAX antenna sites or it's too expensive.
