 | Gee, I remember when... ...it was a given on DSLReports just a few years back that U-verse would NEVER work (FTTN was destined to be a failure) and that by EOY 2008 virtually all of the cable companies would have already deployed DOCSIS 3.0.
Now, U-verse has millions of customers and is winning JD Power awards year after year.
Makes me question some of the "givens" I read here today. |

 | Unless it were FTTH, I'd never get U-Verse, even if it was available.
The speeds they are offering are less than what I am getting now, and the limitation of only two HD streams is going to be a problem. |

If the usual poster here were actually running a provider business, it'd be dead in 6 months.
They can't distinguish between their own desires for a service, the actual market demand (of which their "demo" makes up a rather small part), and the needs of a business to have a workable strategy to remain competitive.
So, what the usual poster here longs for is simple:
Just give it all to the government, and have us all pay for it in taxes. That way it'll be EXACTLY what we want, and it'll be CHEAP, available EVERYWHERE, and it'll ALWAYS work.
Yes, I'm being sarcastic. |

 | reply to fifty nine It's definitely a problem on Thursdays for me. Too many shows to record at the same time. I even have to resort to SD for a couple shows. It's better than TWC though. I'm getting rid of Uverse as I'm going to be back East. I wish I could get Fios... |

| reply to MyDogHsFleas You are so correct. I am a U-verse subscriber and I love it. Yes, I know it has limitations and things about it that are not completely desirable, but they all do. From reading so many of the posts on this site, there could never be any such thing as a perfect service. Some smart @$$ is always going to have something snarky to say about the other guys. |

| reply to MyDogHsFleas One more thing, I love your sarcasm. This is more on what we should have to make the usual poster happy follows:
A government ran, fiber to the home service to cover every home the entire nation. It will offer 100/100 symmetrical service for just $10/month, and every TV channel available in HD for just $10/month also. It will never have service interruptions, and you can download all you want to from any file sharing service you want to without any monthly caps.
But wait a minute......we live in the real world. If my imaginary service existed, some one would still b!#ch about it on here because the speeds weren't faster or some other reason. My point is this, there is nothing perfect in the world. No one, especially the government, is going to make anything perfect. So, we just pick a provider that makes us the happiest. IN the case of this article, it seems that U-verse is doing that for a lot of people. |
