| Experience with ZyWALL 2 Plus at 16+ Mbps speeds?
I was wondering what others' experiences have been like using the Z2+ with fast connections? Comcast recently upped my 8/2 connection to 16/2. I have no problem maxing out the 16 Mbps download speed if I download from one or two web sites plus my usenet server (UseNetServer.com), and it even appears to burst easily to 25 Mbps or so.
But I find that if I have a download going at say, just 5 Mbps, then web browsing becomes slow. I would think I have a solid 10 Mbps of bandwidth headroom to use and that loading simples web pages would be quite snappy, but it's not. If I pause the download then things return to being fast.
I haven't figured out whether it's Comcast's network yet (I wouldn't be surprised), but was also wondering if maybe the Z2+ is beginning to choke at these speeds. I imagine it doesn't have a lot of problem with the big downloads, since it's only dealing with one or two connections, but maybe the HTTP connections then become problematic when it's passing that much traffic.
Experiences? Thoughts? |

1 edit | reply to JJJohnson It totally ROCKS both directions with the cox premier (sp?) which i THINK is about 20 Mps?! All i know is the speeds have been blistering with our ZW2+ and rock steady.
One of my bros who uses Comcast has been having lots of problems with speeds and we've been trying to work on it. We pretty much think it's the isp and not his zwall2+. He's on the east coast usA. We're trying to sort it all out now.
Hopefully our connection stays great after posting this. |
