I got a ding I need fixed. I looked at Safelite, JN Phillips and places on the net. Prices are all over the place for this stuff. Anyone have experience or know of good/better/best??

| reply to orion940 JN Philips has provided me good service. Always ask and get OEM windshields! Safelite uses non-OEM glass. While it meets DOT specs, it may not be the OEM specs. CT Law allows you to request and receive OEM glass. Just my 2 cents

| I ended up at JN Philips (formerly Stebens) in South Windsor. They did the repair for $30, but next time it will have to be replaced. Safelite in E Hart had a net quote of $99 plus tax. I did more research on Safelite, and I came up with some poor reviews and unhappy customers.
I didn't know the OEM. non-OEM thing. Thanks for pointing that out. I'll probably get it replaced soon, and I'll know what to deal with now.
Thanks everyone.

1 edit | reply to orion940 After the new year 2008 it had rained and my front windshield was cracked badly. I had called up Geico and they said sure your covered. Safelite VAN from 413 area code drove up to my house and replace the Windshield in under 30 minutes.
But a few days later I had notice there was a distortion in the glass. I had called up Safelite and they had send back the same tech to replace it. He told me what distortion I don't see anything. I got out a blank white paper and wrote the words defect in large lettering. Told the Safelite tech with 15 years of experience just sit behind the wheel and check this out!
Then he told me you're right there is distortion. So he replace the glass again. Guess what the second one was distorted also. So goes to prove I won't use Safelite ever again. The others are their are not any better. Whatever you do don't go cheap on your windshield you'll end up paying for it at the end. |
