| How to use 2701HG-B as only a router
I recently switched to Comcast cable broadband and I'm using a RCA modem. I was wondering if it is possible to use my old AT&T 2Wire 2701HG-B as just a router so I can connect my PS3 to some wi-fi.
If it is possible, please provide the steps or information on how to do it. Thanks! |

| It is not possible to separate the 2701HG-B's internal router from the built-in ADSL modem. If you had a Westell VersaLink 327W ADSL modem/router, that model has the ability to configure one of the LAN ports as a WAN port, so it could hook up to your RCA cable modem.
So far as I know, there are very few modem/router combos that can use the two sections separately. The 327W is perhaps the only one out there. |

| reply to mckeydee I've never tried it, but it sure seems pretty plausible to me that you can simply not connect the telephone/DSL connection and plug your Cable modem LAN port into your 2wire.
I unplug mine if you'd like when I get a chance and let you know or you can simply try it. |

You can't use the 2wire as a "router" for the cable modem |
