Yikes! Thank you Nick.
Since I have auto-updates disabled, and I always know about "patch Tues", I count on this forum to give me a heads up on the specifics.

What I didn't count on, is the fact that my memory isn't what it once was, and I almost forgot to check here.

Anyway, an amazing 13 updates for XP, and 3 more for MS Office...everything went well.
(Haven't checked my other XP machine yet, or my two Vista machines...I'm headed there next).

Thanks again, Nick!
Always appreciate it.

Talk about patches; I got 21 total! I haven't uploaded or installed yet. I never do before coming here to see if others are having trouble of any kind and then I also usually wait for a day or 2 before installing them. Thanks, Nick. MS has gone nuts with today's load!

After reboot I had an issue with Word not starting and then the laptop refused to go into sleep mode. It just hung at a black screen with the power light on. And this after I listed to the MS shill at the Win7 Launch Event yesterday go on and on about how Win7 ALWAYS goes to sleep when you tell it to.

Not sure if the problems are related to the updates, but I figured I'd post up just in case anyone else sees something similar.

I think there is an advantage to having XP Pro SP2 because I read every KB and thoroughly checked file attributes, etc. and I only need 5 patches. I don't even have a lot of the stuff that needs patching. Nice.

I'm off to install these 5 patches but only one at a time and then I will use the computer for awhile before installing the next one. Actually, I may hold off (they are downloaded to disk so no mad rush) because Explorer is very cranky and I have no idea why as I have no recent software installed but I did apply System Restore to a point before Avira quarantined (without asking first) everything in Microsoft Private Folder as being rootkits last week and that might be the problem. I better wait on installing the patches for now.
