| I loved the original first run series when I was younger, there were so many fun plot surprises and twists (back then there was no internet to ruin the story line). But reading up on the new series... I'm not sure that it does it for me. I'll watch it regardless though, there's not enough sci-fi on TV. |

I loved this show as a kid but I'm kind of sick of seeing all the rehashes of old shows.
Give me something new, something interesting, something thought provoking, not recycled stories and concepts.

So did anybody like the pilot?
I found it to me "ok" but nothing special. They sort of fast forwarded everything. At first there are these small earthquakes, then all of a sudden the ships shows up all over the major cities around the globe. It was a little too quick for me. Something like from Independence Day would of been better. After Anna's face is projected on the ship with the "we come in peace" message in many languages, then everyone starts to clap on the street. This was kind of cheezy. We'll see what happens next. |

I was reading today that these 4 first eps were supposed to be 6, but they decided to trim them down for some reason. That's likely why it seemed rushed. |

That is precisely the problem with the major networks. On a good show they will order 20-22 episodes, that has to last from Sept to May, saving 2-3 episodes for the months Nov, Feb and May (sweeps).
Its the first week of Nov and many of the shows are hitting their 8th episode... you do the math.
Look at HBO or Showtime, AMC(btw the new Prisoner series starts this month) run 12-13 episodes all in a row.
Much much more enjoyable.
