| 2701HB-G, How does one know if the password has changed ?
COMMENT: I'm using a 2wire 2701HB-G router/modem. Someone turned off my old TrippLite unit, killing the power, and my download speed has been reduced from 150kbps to 95kbps. No matter what I do (and I've done everything), the speed will not go back to what it once was. I ran several speed tests, and the speed is there on the internet, but not from my router to the PC. Perhaps these routers are easily damaged, but continue to work ?
NOW, to my question;
On the 2701HB-G, how do you know if the password has changed ?
I changed the password in the modem through AT&T's on-line tool. But I still see 8 stars (********) when the password is 14 characters long. |

Every time the username and/or the password is edited a detailed log message is generated and the modem will start using the new username and/or the password right away |

I guess my next move is to a different 2wire router/modem, maybe the 2700. |

| From the router:
DSL Connection Details
DSL Line (Wire Pair): Line 1 (inner pair) Protocol: G.DMT Annex A Downstream Rate: 1472 kbps Upstream Rate: 256 kbps Channel: Fast Connection Type: PPPoE Current Noise Margin: 18.0 dB (Downstream) 18.0 dB (Upstream) Current Attenuation: 13.1 dB (Downstream) 8.0 dB (Upstream) Current Output Power: -0.4 dBm (Downstream) 0.8 dBm (Upstream) DSLAM Vendor Information: Country: {0x0F} Vendor: {ALCB} Specific: {0x00} PVC Info: 8/35
Nothing has changed.... I'm thinking the router just can't deliver as fast as it did before the power failure. I do have surge suppression, and somewhere I read not to use this, but I don't see how that could affect anything. Surge protection is necessary, along with APS back-up, or everything will stop working. |
