Re: Anyone ever seen "Become an ®DISH NETWORK Online..." ads

Interesting, did you sign up via either of the two Domains listed by the original poster wolfy339 See Profile, MyDishBiz.com and/or DishProfits.com??

I am curious because I did some research when the OP posted, as to who may be behind the two domains MyDishBiz.com and DishProfits.com. I did not have a chance yet to post my interesting findings. It always strikes my curiosity when I see business promotions that involve a financial transaction between the recruited and the promoter. While the promoter expects those who he recruits to turn over identification info, he on the other hand deliberately wants to remain anonymous. I always have a major issue regarding those circumstances. Any individual who is flogging a business proposal that they believe is legit, should indicate that belief by not hiding behind a mask.

In cases such as this, the first task which one has to perform, is to determine the reason why the promoter wants to hide. I can tell you from extensive experience, that those reasons for remaining anonymous are never good.

If you did sign up via MyDishBiz.com and/or DishProfits.com then it looks like you are an affiliate of an affiliate of an affiliate, of which each gets a cut of the take, while you have the entire cost of driving traffic to your website.

At least your experiment should not break your bank, unless you drown in Google adsense costs. The major problem with this whole Dish Network escapade, is that everyone and their brother are now promoting it. It has long ago reached the total saturation stage. Type any single zip code into careerbulder.com and you will find a half dozen fake job adds for affiliates.

I will retrieve my earlier notes on the results of digging behind
MyDishBiz.com and/or DishProfits.com and post them.

OK, everyone here may remember my other two threads: »Anyone ever heard of a company called "Treasury Finance Inc" and »Anyone ever heard of a company called "Navy Finance..."?

An example of the job I am posting about: »www.careerbuilder.com/JobSeeker/···FP3W6CDV. The thing is this appears to be a scam as the two domains listed in the ad (DishProfits.com and MyDishBiz) appear to be registered by Domains By Proxy (»whois.domaintools.com/dishprofits.com, »whois.domaintools.com/mydishbiz.com); even better: they appear to have been registered in February this year. Any ideas who may be behind this? Bonus points if you can describe the scam.

keep that VMC Satellite aka vmcsatellite.com in mind, which is where you end up at after dealing with MyDishBiz.com and/or DishProfits.com This group has been affiliate partners since 2004 or so.

A quick review of the site:

shows at least two items right off the bat that the FTC might have issues with:

This date tag is scripted to reset every day. Expect that claims of only being allotted 42 positions a day could be required to be substantiated

"Join now & secure your $120 to $270 a day HOME position !". Want to take a bet on how many of the last 200 signups are making that ?

Here is a screen shot from 10/20/2009

Though MyDishBiz.com & DishProfits.com have a cloaked domain registration, an analysis shows that the individual behind the ski mask, is affiliate magnate extraordinaire, Jeffrey Burkey, with a prior business address of 290 S. HOLLYWOOD BLVD., STEUBENVILLE, OH 43952, known to be a purveyor of multi year exaggerated get rich schemes.

This might ring some bells:

Note that the Ohio BBB report circa 2007 on Jeffrey Burkey's applepatchdiet.net and applepatchdiet.com, it also mentions two other prior businesses:

Mr Jeff Burkey was also previously identified in Bureau files as the owner of Submission Magic and Mystery Shopper Network.

According to information supplied by Mr Jeff Burkey on February 5, 2007, he has sold Submission Magic 6 months ago and has resigned and is no longer the President of Mystery Shopper Network.

I don't know if submission magic is a scam, but I DO know that there are far better affiliate programs for dish network. For example, allsat.com offers a FREE affiliate program for Dish, that includes the website creation and submission to search engines, but pays you $80.00 per referral instead of the $50.00 submission magic offers. My guess is that Submission magic is making $25.00 per sign up and another $30 per client sale simply by working as a front end to organizations like allsat.

In circa 2004 Jeffrey Burkey's Submission Magic was doing the exact same shtick, affiliate feeding to none other than VMC Satellite.

Posted: Tue Dec 28, 2004 5:13 pm Post subject: Submission Magic and BBB

---------------------------------------------

I've looked up Submission Magic on the Better Business Bureau website...good news and bad news

Good news--under the BBB in Canton, OH, Submission Magic has had no complaints registered with or resolved through the BBB in 2004. Bad news--Its parent company (or the company Submission Magic acts as an affiliate for), VMC Satellite (named in fine print at the bottom of the Submission Magic homepage), has had numerous complaints registered with and resolved through the BBB in Washington, DC. According to the BBB in Washington, DC, many of the resolutions of complaints resulted in refunds to customers. According to the BBB in DC, the main complaint filed against VMC Satellite is unsatisfactory customer service.

Neither company is registered in the BBB Online for web-based businesses; but both are registered as legit businesses under the regular BBB.

I've been considering this work at home op as well; this new info now has me thinking even harder. Hope it helps anyone considering this work-at-home op make a better decision. And FYI--VMC Satellite has its own affiliate program that has no cost posted on its website www. vmcsatellite.com.

Ref: »www.work-at-home-forum.com/archi···162.html

VMC Satellite by the way has a multi year list of consumer complaints:

An "F" rating with the local BBB:

quote:
BBB Rating

Based on BBB files, this business has a BBB Rating of F

Reasons for this rating include:

• Number of complaints filed against business

• Failure to respond to complaints filed against business

• Number of complaints filed against business that were unresolved

• Overall complaint history with BBB

• Length of time business has taken to resolve complaint(s)

Yea, I guess I would cloak the domains too ......

Based on the reports of prior sign ups it is clear that Jeffrey Burkey's earning claims on MyDishBiz.com & DishProfits.com are deceptive, knowingly false, and unsubstantiated.

It is likely that the typical results are similar to this, both in terms of results, and the ability to get a response to a refund request. Note that they only list an email contact address, and do not list a phone number. I believe it may have been Snowy See Profile who noted earlier, that the refund timeframe conviently corresponds to the expiration of the charge back option period.:

Career Builders listed Dish Network, and how their affiliate program would make you $8,100 a month. I clicked the sales add and VMC came up.

What they promised, (after I purchased their $39.95 program), they would send me up to 100 visitors a day. They even displayed a chart showing that 2% of 100 visitors normally purchase. Here is the deciet and crime:

I joined with them Dec 8, 2008. As of today Jan 10, 2009, I have had 1629 visitors and no purchases. I think Rick Raham should take a basic class in Arithmetic.

I have sent several emails to them, and they have not responded. I will try again so I can attempt to get a refund. (as they so stated in a 60 day money back guarantee with no questions asked).

You really have an issue with keeping your facts straight.

Hi wbrightfl:

You had provided some posts about MyDishBiz. I am thinking about doing this and wanted to know what you thought so far. It looks like you joined MyDishBiz about a week ago. I would be interested in hearing your thoughts......

I found on Careerbuilder a posting for this and was really just about ready to sign up - gave it about an hours of thought and went through their links and everything - figured its worth only $35 to find out - no big loss right??

just before I signed up I decided to look it up further. I also thought to contact Dish Network directly and ask them - which I did and they replied that MyDishBiz.com is an affiliate of theirs. I asked them then if Dish Network was in support of the home business they advertised. She replied with a question on whether or not I was looking for work and sent me a link to Dish Networks career opportunities page.

During the time it took to get the online chat, i found this thread and read up what you've all posted. Obviously Dish Network is somehow involved but obviously they wouldn't be traceable or else any bad reports would affect their main business. So how does this thing work and stay online if its a scam?

My thoughts - a smart guy goes to Dish and says, will you allow me to be an official affiliate if I bring you web traffic? and then will you be willing to give a small referral fee for any actual business? Dish says to himself - hmmmm ... well, any traffic is potential business and he's not asking for money upfront so I guess sure why not. Smart guy says thanks and leaves. Smart guy knows some facts about how many people currently visit Dish and how many customers it gains so he knows its a very small percentage. Smart guy then decides to make a business offering good money to generate this traffic and legally using the Dish Network logo to make it more "legit", charges $35 for it. He knows the vast majority of his clients are not gonna make anything and will just give up without a fight after a few months. They won't see the money coming and will have no clue what to do about it. He also knows there will be a few who research it so he ensures to make it difficult to get any real info. He also realizes there will be some who will make claims to get their money back and some to which he may actually have to refund money to. The fact is that once he has their money, its very difficult for them to get it back, court order or no, its a long process that nobody is going to chase considering its only $35. For Smart guy - it means he has to get a few thousand suckers a month and he's set. Since its all automated - he could spend his days at the beach! damn ... I should have thought of this before he did!

I'll keep my $35 today, I actually worked for it!

Update 11/30/09

I signed up for this program on 11/13/09. I added my site address to all popular search engines and even allocated $200 for online advertising with google and adsonar. As of today there have been 124 unique visitors to my site and no sales. I have emailed their support 4 times questioning why they aren't fowarding 100 visitors per day to my site, no response. I am sticking with this for 1 month and if no sales I will request a refund and move on. If no response from a refund request I will reverse charges before the 60 days are up.

First off, very fine expose MGD.

To anyone interested Dish Network does have their own referral program. It doesn't pay cash but you can get discounts on their services for getting people to sign up with Dish. Check the "referrals" link on the bottom of their main website page for details.

12/11/09 update:

359 unique visitors, 3076 page views, no sales.

This morning I requested a refund and to cancel my account. I will give them 48 hours to respond and if no response I will dispute the credit card charge with Amex.

I do not recommend this program to anyone. Chances of making a sale less than playing the lottery.
