| Connectivity Issues in Starkville, MS
I'm a student living in Starkville, MS and I have been having some serious issues the past few days with my connection. Below, I have listed the results from speedtest.net as well as pingtest.net for the past few days:
Oct 11th
Oct 12th
Oct 13th (Today)
As you can see, if is very inconsistent. And yes, I've used the speedtest.ms.metrocast.net test (I spoke with a customer support rep when I first started having these issues). Sometimes they reflect the results of the other tests, other times they don't.
Anyways, I called customer support again tonight, and got an automated message saying that there were some connectivity issues in Starkville, MS and they were working to fix these issues.
I'm assuming that is why I'm having trouble, but the lady I spoke with two nights ago claimed that there were no issues that she was aware of and it was all on my end. So I'm not sure what to believe right now.
Any insight would be appreciated. |

| I've been having the same problems in Starkville for about a month.
Things were going great for most of the year, and then about the middle of September the connection just got outright horrible.
Tech came out and said things were good, and that my troubles must be coming during their peak times.
I'm going to switch to DSL here soon unless something changes. |

| reply to jcoulter22 I have been with metrocast since june 1 2009. All was good until the students moved into the area (beginning of august). I live in apartment and there is another apartment complex next to mine. i had a tech come out and see our connections. nothing was wrong. I work in IT for the university so I know a thing or two about networks. They cant pin this horrible performance on me since I know its not me. Anyways the tech realizing that I wasnt an idiot told me that the hubs in starkville are all overloaded. which means that all the routers at the end of the fiber lines cant handle so much load (a modem per apartment with 2to3 PCs). I was also told that they are upgrading everything starting in the north and making their way down towards the south. Anyways, I dont think they are making any headway. Im pissed because we have 20% packet loss on daily basis and they are the only ISP in my particular area. |
