| [WotLK] Character Transfer
Ok heres the situation. I started playing WoW about 2 years ago. I had been playing for about 6 months when my 8 year old wanted to try it out, so, I let him create a character on my account so he could try it out to see if he liked it. Well, he did, so, for christmas we got him his own WoW account and everything. also, this persudaed my girlfriend to start playing also. So, the problem is I have character and his character on my account. I am wondering if there is any way to get them transfered to his account.
Keep in mind that 1.He is my step son so the last names do NOT match as of yet 2.The name on his account is HIS name not mine
I did not realize that in order to transfer characters between accounts the name of the account holder had to be the same. Does anyone know what steps or what needs to be done to get these 2 characters transfered to his account? I know you can't change the user name on an account YET according to a Blizz rep. -- Don't Let Yer Lip React, Ya Don't Wanna See My Hand Where My Hip Be At |

| yeah, make another wow account, put em on the same battle.net account...then go to account management of the first account, and do a toon account transfer
easy as that (minus credit card cost and some clicking and dialog boxes) -- blog from boredom |

So this should allow me to transfer no matter what the user name correct? right, though...they will both use the same email address, there will be a selection box at the login screen, and choose the account from there
then, at worldofwarcraft.com you can move the toon over -- blog from boredom |

| The whole point of this is getting around the last names. I called blizzard to ask this same question. They said the only way to change account names is 1. death and inherit the account 2. marriage change of name, must send in licence 3. turning 18 and changing name.
The guy on the phone gave me advice and said he would deny it that if you do the battle.net merge, you can then transfer characters regardless of the name on the accounts. |

| reply to DuPontK If you pay for both accounts, both yours and your step son's,I do not see a problem with it. If your wife is paying for one and you are paying for the other. Then if her last name is different on the account that is probably the problem.
I had a similar issue with a really good friends account back when I was playing at his house on weekends. He had a alternate account setup for his wife and friends to play on.My toon was lvl 34.This was also before BC came out. I ended up having him delete the toon and then I recreated him on my account 3 years later.
I now have an account for my son and a account for me. Both are paid off the same card and so the name on both accounts are mine. His Username and Pass is his own though and they are both on their own Battle.net account. In like 5 years he will be 18,if he wants to pay for it at that time out of his pocket is fine,I do not know if he will be able to transfer it over into his name though. But its all ok,he can give me the cash. Also,by then WOW 8.0 will be out. LOL
Good luck and let us know if it works out -- Heavily Armed and Easily Provoked |

| reply to DuPontK I've went and created a second account for my daughter (minor) but its in my name. Just need to buy the expansions.
From what i read of the rules i should be creating a separate battle.net account for this 'other' account. What happens with two wow accounts merged into a single battlenet account anyway? how can you log onto both of these at the same time? |

| create a battle.net account. Merge the accounts.
Now you can transfer toons between accounts regardless of the names on them.
They only change is when you log in to wow you will use a new username given to you by battlenet. Then a little window will open and you pick the account you want to log into.
Nothing changes by merging the accounts except now you can move toons around. |

join:2009-04-06 | reply to DuPontK ok, so you can have more than one account open or logged on right? I assume Blizz allowed merging of multiple wow accounts for a reason, but i don't think having other family members under one battle.net account is one of them. |

@mtntel.net | reply to slashr Does the battlenet merge work for any account no matter what the name on the account is you can transfer toons? |

@mtntel.net | So two different people can play on the same battlenet account if there are two accounts connected to the same single battlenet account?
Is it possible to de-merge and re-merge battlenet accounts? |
|
  mawbear
@mtntel.net
| reply to slashr Dont know if the last question went through. I am trying to merge accounts as we speak and want to make sure that if I merge two different accounts to one Bnet account that two different people can still play especially when there are two different accounts attached to one Bnet?
Also do you know if there is a way to de-merge and remerge accounts? |
