| WNDR3700 and home network issue.
Two of my desktop PC's that are connected through WiFi to WNDR3700, do not see a laptop on the network that is wired in to WNDR3700 with a cat5.
But, the laptop can see both desktop PC's.
I didnt have this issue with a dlink router last night when i did the router change.
Im running Vista on all the machines.
Thanks. |

I solved the issue.
I disabled and then re-enabled Network Discovery and that solved the issue. |

| reply to KGB7 This has wireless protection features or that button for wireless security. What happens if you disable that in router. Do you see any improvement in 802.11n only mode. I am seeing disabling that features in other brands very effective how about you. Also I've notice everyone who had DIR-655 are now here in this forum. Now I see where all you have gone! |

edit.
With out any wireless security, the speed between two computers while transferring a file over wifi, is about 0.3MB/s faster. |

Each router has a button to setup wireless security where most users don't understand that if they set the wireless security manually you don't need to have both manual and automatic security enabled. Thus all these wireless conflicts with 802.11n would be eliminated! |

I see what you are saying. In some instances you need to disable the automatic security when setting up the security manually. That will eliminate conflicts with wireless N. Sometimes the router automatically assumes that if you are setting up the security manually, that it turns off the automatic security. But sometimes, you have to go trough the advanced wireless settings of the router and actually turn off that automatic security.
I think i got that right. |

Yes that's where a lot of the issues with wireless stem from with the WPS being set to auto and everyone setups the encryption manually. Like a boxing match who's going to win, the answer nobody!
Other info..
Information week announced upcoming 802.11v standard 802.11v also promises to improve the reliability of Wi-Fi networks, to increase data transfer speeds and to cut interference from other devices
So will 802.11v replace existing 802.11a, b, g and n standards?
No, it's been designed to work alongside them. When and how can I get my mitts on it?
802.11v is expected to get final approval from the IEEE Wi-Fi standards committee in 2010. But there's bound to be a bunch of Pre-V devices launched before then. |
