What are the security implications of Wifi Direct?

The front page story today is called "Wi-Fi Direct Bypasses Your Router On Its Way To Kill Bluetooth". »Wi-Fi Direct Bypasses Your Router On Its Way To Kill Bluetooth

This looks to be convenient, and according to the blurbs it will have WPA2. But what about (equivalent of) firewall rules? And are there other security issues?

Whenever something promises simplification or convenience at the expense of knowledge and control of what's going on, i suspect a bad tradeoff. I also wonder about patents, DRM, lock-in and other "gotchas".

A quick google didn't turn up much. Does anyone know more about this?

Only for clueless people. This is simply 'automated ad hoc', and people may cluelessly connect to other pcs, causing all sorts of potential trouble.
