I do not use evolution, and see evolution items in the running process list. I have read evolution is integrated into ubuntu, so my question is which packages do I mark for complete removal? |

| Have you tried "sudo apt-get remove evolution" (without the quotes)
Then "sudo apt-get autoremove" (to take out any orphaned packages)
That *should* pull all the evolution stuff out of your system, I believe..
-Jason -- You can keep the change. |

| Correct. Of course, he should check for config files in the usual places if he wants to *completely* remove it. Sometimes, apt-get won't get those even if you use purge instead of remove(this knowledge is also useful when a program went haywire due to something it wrote to its config). |

| reply to nixie21 There are quite a few parts of the gnome desktop environment that rely on parts of the Evolution infrastructure ,nautilus for example. It is not a good idea to remove it.Just remove whatever icons you don't want to see,and use the mail/calender etc. app that you want. |
