| The interesting thing about the game was that the devs did it only using the same tools they licensed out to people (much like how LBP on ps3's levels were made using the same tools they let end users play with), and that the game was done by a team of six people, compared to EA's 35 or so.
Sadly though, I think it's also a case of that the NFL doesn't want to lose the exclusivity deal, either.

| Blitz belonged to midway, and having had the fortune of being able to talk with some that were formerly part of the Madden team, they had mentioned that if anything, the NFL likes the exclusivity deal too much, because it then lets them force EA to only make the kind of games that they want people to be able to buy.
So if anything, it very well could be an issue of some back-door politics that shut out the NFL Street series.

EA will buy them out and bury it. Though if they could change the game to a pick up football game [back yards, parks etc]. Dump any NFL items, then they could market the game.

| The company that made this software is already rolling with the income of licensing this middleware to the likes of Lucasarts (Force Unleashed), Rock* (GTA4) and others.
Logically, they would only have to say "no thank you" to any buyout offers, unless they want to pull what Marvel did when Disney bought them.
