| reply to John Galt Of course that is modern BS update.... the internet even at basics did not even exist, at those product times.
And just slows things down for glitz... I'd much rather just click and change page instantly.

Quit whining.

| reply to John Galt LOL. I used to spend days looking through those things.
I remember when they started phasing out the mass-mailing and only had them in the stores. The guy at my local shack used to always make sure I had one because I was always in there buying stuff.
Even now, they still know my name. -- Tradition: Just because you've always done it that way doesn't mean it's not incredibly stupid. --despair.com |

| reply to John Galt Great find!
I was browsing through the 1975 catalog, and found something that I built for my 1973 Opel Manta Luxus.

It solved the horrible back-fire problem that the car had a tendency to exhibit. -- That's how you be great! That's how you be great! Oh my goodness man, we did it, baby! |

| reply to John Galt Wow! Now that's some real nostalgia. I poured over Radio Shack catalogs like my peers poured over car magazines.
I'd forgotten all about the stereo (or quad) systems with "good", "better" and "best" combos...
And the P-Box kits -- I dropped some paper-route money on those. |

Oh, the old memories are making my brain hurt! I built one of these for our '68 Opel Kadette Rallye. We used to compete in the National Rallye Circuit of the SCCA with it. The bypass switch was extremely handy one time when we were running a rallye in Iowa. We were at speed on a country road when we ran up a short hill and what was on the other side of the hill but a railroad grade crossing! We literally flew over that RR track and bottomed out on the other side, even with fully craknked up Koni shocks!
When we hit, the engine died! I thought "Oh crap, we crunched the drainpan into the crank, but a quick visual showed all was still OK.
I popped the hood and checked, but did not hear that familiar whine of the CD ignition. I pushed the bypass switch, and bingo, we had an engine again! Back on the rallye!
After we got home, a postmortem on the CD ignition showed a large power resistor had popped off the PC board from the inertia of the "flight through space" and the landing.

 Digital-Ready Speakers | | |
Wow, look at the marketing hype and lies they used to convince people to buy the newest stuff, that didn't know any better...
The one on the far right: "Two Mach-Two Digital-Ready 3-Way Speakers" ... Digital-Ready speakers? Ha! Good luck with that!

They weren't the only one that did this, however. -- The man who speaks to you of sacrifice is speaking of slaves and masters, and intends to be the master.
