Oops I missed that. So my list is the 5 non-bold ones.
Actually, I went back and looked at your provided link, and some of the channels are not listed on that grid one way or the other, so it is really hard to tell in that case. |

If you can't take the prices then switch to something else. |

Source TV Predictions It doesn't say it's coming to Fios, it's just coming out. They already don't carry Starz West which is available. For that matter it was also announced that EWTN will be going HD in December, will we get that? TBN has been in HD for a long time and we still don't get it. |

| reply to Reaper_WA I've said it many times, but at this point, I want HD channels that have a good amount of HD programming. MSNBC, E!, TruTV, do they? I think not. BBC America, Turner Classics, NASA, Crime and Investigation do. I'm not sure about G4. Cartoon Network is mostly toons, which don't look much different in HD.
Also, I think the FOX 2010 launches are a viable subject in this kind of thread. Reason is that Verizon isn't adding anything until 2010 anyway. FOX, who are not a cable company competitor, should be able to strike a deal with Verizon much faster than Time Warner or Comcast. We could see FOX's channels up first. |

3 edits | reply to Reaper_WA said by Reaper_WA :said by N O Y B :The channel I most want is the a la carte channel. I get so fed up with having to buy things I do not want, need nor use in order to get that which I do want and use. Let those who use it, pay for it. Everyone thinks that a la cart would be cheaper. In reality, individual channels would almost certainly cost more. If you spread costs for a channel across an entire subscriber base then the cost per individul is minimal. Spreading the costs over, say, 10% of your subscriber base means that the cost per individual would be 10 times higher. Simple math. Also, a pure a la cart system would need better accounting systems to manage it, and that would cost money too. this is what happens when one drinks the koolaid, one starts believing, one becomes a follower.
these conglamorates are busy creating useless channels and fill them with garbage like the new one being touted ED BEGLEY house "reality" show where he gets to bore you with his "green earth recycling"
please give me a f'ing break!
common there's basicly 2 types out there the sports head and the tv head. both sides usually are also movie heads
so local channels a couple of the "decent" UNsuper channels and the movie package. I'm done.
do not need to pay for ANY sports, ANY music cRAP channels, and any channels that has rolling or moving or audible crap on the screen to distract me( I have grand kids for that )
take a look at the discovery channel they had 5 or 6 good shows, and they have spread it out over a whole bunch of channels, due to LACK of quality programming or god forbid ORIGINALITY in hollywood.
when I had a BIG satellite dish and I had a la carte IT WAS CHEAPER and people would sit there and give me the same dumb argument and I would post a link to my provider and show the real prices and evryone would shut up.
BTW you can thank Motorola for that too. I have not had Cband for 6 years but the point is you buy what you want only below are monthly-quaterly-yearly prices for some channels

I don't know specifics so I could be wrong, but I would guess BBC America has less than 10 hours of HD programming per week. |

| reply to Reaper_WA rtcy -- according to your a la cart price list buying individual channels would be way more expensive if you wanted most of the 120 HD channels that Verizon offers.
At about $50 for a year average (not exact numbers but you get the idea) per channel, times 120 = $6,000
So that's $500 a month
Not sure why you would buy by the week or month either.
Plus why limit yourself, it is good to be able to surf the guide and always have something good to watch. I think by buying a la cart and then having a lot less channels, you will end up having less to choose from. Plus it really puts 'work' into researching what shows are on what channels and when they are coming on, in order to decide when to order a channel a la cart. |
