<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/426104"><b>sparks</b></A> : well I got bootsed to 18M for free for 6 months and I got to spend this weekend trying to find out why my speeds sucked.<br><br>I was dl a 1G and an 8G file from my work that is more than fast enough to allow 14000 workers to serf the net...OH WAIT we are looking for information   :)<br><br>Well after testing and changing settings in XP and programs and everything else I could think of I switched to 7 pro. SAME thing.<br><br>finally it started working....I am getting a solid 2.2MB dl speed.<br>I still don't know what is going on but I was surprised when it just started working....this is the strangest experience with a service I have ever seen.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/426104"><b>sparks</b></A> : JNG can you post the settings that you used to fix this?<br><br>Have you tried dl some large files and does it maintain your thruput ?<br><br>I had the 12meg and it was impossible to dl a file over a gig without constant bouncing and ended up around 100Kb at the end.<br>Tried an 8GB file and it leveled out after about 10 minutes to 300Kb.<br><br>It starts off at 1.42MB then after about 20 seconds it is bouncing from 900KB to 300KB  then another 20 seconds its 300KB to 1 KB.<br><br>they just gave me free 18MB to try and its worse.<br><br>BUT the stupid speed test show wow speeds.<br>big deal<br><br>uverse test in dallas.<br>Download = 14.271 Mbps<br>Upload = 1.485 Mbps<br><br>speakeasy in dallas<br>Download = 16086 kbps<br>Upload = 1472 kbps]]></description>

Sorry.<br><br>But I bet there's other people who didn't bother reading that, so this is good of you to point out and for all of us to note.<br><br>This reminds me about a story I heard (I think from a teacher) about the test that was handed out that had instructions at the very top instructing to turn the test in and leave class (college).  The majority of students supposedly didn't see that, so unnecessarily took the test.<br><br>Great reminder about instructions and reading, for crying out loud. Noticed the following disclaimer on the report.<br><br>"Thank you for using AT&T's Speedtest! Please note that our Speedtest estimates your upstream and downstream speeds for Internet services of up to 6 Mbps. If you subscribe to a service of greater than 6 Mbps, then your Speedtest results may not be as accurate. Speedtests for services of greater than 6 Mbps are currently under development, so check back soon!"<br><br>So by their own admission the AT&T test does not work for speeds above 6MB.]]></description>

Apparently they MAY have issues over 10 Mbps in the Bay Area at least?<br><br>I just ran the at&t one again, using the Chicago server, just to double-check... here is the results:<br>Download = 4.750 Mbps<br>Upload = 1.488 Mbps<br><br>And this using the San Francisco server:<br>Download = 4.769 Mbps<br>Upload = 1.459 Mbps<br><br>Pretty lame. Does anyone else experience this problem with Speakeasy.  If nothing else, I imagine other UVerse users from the Bay Area do.<br><br>As for the AT&T site, that was completely awful.  Even picking the nearest server, it gave me a reading of like 5 Mbps down (up was much closer to actual), which is just plain crazy.  I tested again with speedtest.net, and sure enough, dead on accurate.<br><br>Like I said, anyone else with similar experience.  I'm using XP and never done the TCP tweaks, so that could have something to do with it, but I don't know why speedtest.net measures correctly without the tweaks if that's the case.]]></description>

Lastly are you sure you changed the RWIN on the correct adapter?  Sometimes Dr. TCP has drop down for various adapters.]]></description>

All the Vista laptops are running at the full 11.5 megs. I tried the DR TCP advice without any success. Also, this 5 meg limit occurs on a another older xp laptop also.
