| Cable Installation Brush Off =)
So,
I have seen in numerous threads over the years that at some moment in time, a Rogers installation techniciniah will simply decide that " we Dont think we can install your cable through this house... pleasee call Rogers again and ask for a new appointment ... "
So besides all that garbage ... we gave them their chance.. I guess since they never left enough equipment to run my own cables through 4 connections through the house, I will have no choice but to call again and schedule again ...
But you would think that the CSR would be trying to get as much info as they can, so by the time the tech comes over... they are not at the end of their time window frame, and dvice they are too lazy to install for us.
Poo on you Rogers, but I will still deliver the round 2 news about it |

I had this happen to me when I renovated my basement a year ago... I scheduled an installation for 3 TV + 1 internet hookup in an unfinished (but studded) rough in.
The kid technician came and said he couldn't do it... left me a few hundred feet of cable, the wall plates, crimp on connectors and said to get my contractors to do it.
I ended up doing it myself. It took all of an hour.
What do they think you mean when you say you want 3 or 4 new connections wired into an unfinished basement ????
Bell has had this policy for quite a while now though... if you want them to do any work inside your house you either need to buy into their insurance plan to do so, or pay them hourly. So when they came, the tech told me it would be cheaper to get the insurance, which I did and they did the work for the phones. |

2 edits | reply to DJMASACRE Wether it's unfinished or not, it's deemed as inside wiring and fishing. The tech wasn't even supposed to leave you the cable. He could of left the job and advised you to have your contractor contact the warehouse for supplies
my concern is the "crimp" fittings and not compression.
If it's higher then 12 feet (unless it's a riser) in my book it's custom fishing. Need two bodies then. 1 for the work and 1 to satisfy Health and Safety.
Unless your a electrician, and/or know about attenuation/suckout, Im sure Maintenance knows where you live. Lol
EDIT: and even then half of the electricians/contractors screw up low voltage so much that even a 1 fingered monkey with schitzophrenia and parkinsons can do better. I stress HALF because there are alot of good electricians/contractors out there. |

| reply to DJMASACRE yeah I was trying to just look at it myself ...
and its a pretty big mess, in such an old place . which is fine, ( leave it to the professionals -- blah )
But the fact that they already had fresh cable running from the basement into the 1st floor kitchen for the Internet Cable lines connected to the modem ... can confirm the suspicision ....
*poop* ;\
I just hope this next appointment will be taken a little more seriously, even with how we did discuss the situation in full detail with the CSR.
So lets just hope Monday, they are here early enough, and spend the time alloted almost in full, to complete our full 4 line installaton.
I mean my gosh
are these people not being paid enough or what .... may aswell just give us all the cables and splitters/panels we would need with an invoice ( although our installation was free ) + a nice link/reference to how to install the shit ourselves ...
but thats not how a real company like Rogers or Bell would be right ...
no, we consider them as a business to respect ... right ?
*puke* .
but nevertheless, we pay more than we should.
ok . *binge over* |

| You've got a point; Rogers contractors are paid peanuts and like many even inhouse techs they are on picework. So my advise; when you'll call for apointmet make CSR to "streach" a call, or at least put notes that the job might take 4hrs. In this case you'll get better chance to have hourly paid tech and system will alocate enough time for the apointment.
cheers -- In a World without fences and walls, who needs Gates and Windows? |
