 Amarillo Texas Poor Speeds

Arris Status Page
I'm here in Amarillo (West Texas). About 3 weeks ago I started having very sporadic speeds and kept thinking it'd take care of itself.

Last week when the issue still wasn't resolved I contacted Suddenlink to have them check my lines, the tech came and said everything checked out.

Here we are a week or two later and I'm still having poor results, I'm on the 10meg package and will get that (rarely) but usually anywhere between 2-6megs.

Other than the line check I've also tried a replacement router, and direct connection with both my PC and Laptop. I'm in hopes that someone from Suddenlink here reads this and can maybe check if there's a bigger issue going on in Amarillo or perhaps just my neighborhood. Unfortunately none of the neighbors I know use Suddenlink so I have nothing to compare it to.

Thanks,
Steven

US signal is out of spec. You want to get that fixed. DS signal is fine though.

Josh, the CM MAC is in the screenshot.

stevensr,

Your upstream power is a bit low. Sometimes you can raise it a bit by adding a splitter.

That said, we're aware of the issues in your area that are happening in the evening hours. I've been in contact with the plant manager, who is aware of the issue and is working to alleviate this problem. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we remedy the situation.

SuddenlinkTX and JoshN,

Thanks for the replies and checking into it. Just knowing there's actually an issue and it's not in my head is relieving

I have the 10mb down speed package with Suddenlink in Amarillo and within the past three weeks or so, have noticed that the speeds on it have changed for the worse. I rarely download above 500K anymore (morning, noon, late night, etc.) and have peaked to about 700K overall within these past few weeks.

It used to be pretty consistent 10mb speeds, but not anymore. I've changed the modem, the router, but the issue remains. I called support and they scheduled someone to come out this past weekend, but no one ever showed up. The call was at 8am, I was up and about at 7 or so. I called Suddenlink support again last night to ask why no one showed up and they told me the tech did show up, but no one was home. Yeah....sure.

Ping times seem to be all over the place. I used to get 30-40ms ping times to quakelive.com servers (in Dallas and New York), but now I'm seeing 70+ and even up to 130 or so.

Suddenlink is the only thing really that Amarillo has going for it as far as faster broadband speeds, but lately, it's been pretty bad.

I have the EXACT problems, but I pay for the 8meg package.

I have been a cox/suddenlink customer for 10 years now and I am not happy at all. I average 2.5meg down and 40kbs up.

I cant even watch a damn Youtube video smoothly.

I'm not a dummy, My PC runs just fine, My connections, modem, router and PC are all top notch. SuddenLink is not.

I pay them $116 a month for basic TV and this crappy internet.

I'm done

Shopping for DSL and satellite TV here in Amarillo.

This is what I might get:
AT&T High Speed Internet Pro
Downstream speed up to 3.0 Mbps. Order now and get a $19.95 bill credit for 3 months (see Terms and Conditions for details). Plus, get a FREE Gateway or Modem after rebate.

What you guy's think?
