| AVG 9 Pro & ZoneAlarm Pro 2010 compatibility?
Running Win XP SP3 with Zone Alarm Pro 2010 installed. I have now upgraded AVG Pro to version 9.
During install a pop up warned re compatibility and advised to uninstall ZA as it could slow down computer and cause conflicts. I took the risk and installed AVG.
I do want to continue with my AVG paid version as also with the ZA which I received free on their giveaway event.
So far so good with no problems.
Anyone else running the two please and any comments? |

1 edit | Just received a reply from AVG Technical Support:
"Dear Sir/Madam,
thank you for your e-mail.
Please be advised, usually when you install more than one security product in you computer, it may conflict with each other. The warning you received during installation is just to inform you about the presence of Zone Alarm in your computer. Since your version of AVG does not include AVG Firewall, and so far there is no issue occurs, we believe you can continue using Zone Alarm in your computer.
Should there be any issue such as conflict, error message etc. on your AVG application, we recommend that you uninstall Zone Alarm from your computer.
Thank you for your support for AVG. It is appreciated."
Please note that I did install AVG 9 Pro on 15 Oct 09 ignoring the pop-up; so far so good with no problems.
I am using the AVG 9 Pro version (installation file: avg_ipw_stf_all_90_663a1703.exe)
and Zone Alarm Pro 2010 (installation file: zapSetup_90_136_000_en.exe)
on Win XP SP3. I hope this post proves useful. |

@net.au | reply to Zak_ Just uninstalled AVG 9 as internet browsing slowed to a stall. I have zone alarm installed (ignored warning to uninstall it) and have decided to keep it instead of AVG 9. After AVG 9 uninstalled and AVG 8 reinstalled everything is back to normal. |

| I have now had to disable LinkScanner and Web Shield because when surfing my browsers slowed down dramatically and on occasions web pages would not load. With the two components disabled surfing is back up to speed. Apparently a fix will be coming from AVG - this was mentioned in another forum, possibly on the AVG one. |

| reply to Zak_ I uninstalled Zone Alarm and installed AVG Internet Security 9.0.700, my office pc became very slow with startup and during normal use, internet speed seems fine. AVG Internet Security 8.5 was fine with no problems. I am going to uninstall AVG IS 9 and install Zone Alarm again. |

| reply to Zak_ I just spent over a week working with AVG Tech Support sending them the information that they requested. Today they informed me that ZoneAlarm Pro browser protection has a conflict with AVG Web Shield and suggested disabling one or the other.
They also stated that AVG Firewall works with AVG Web Shield, in other words, use our firewall not theirs.
I also informed them that just disabling Web Shield did not fix the issue, that Link Scanner needed to be disabled too for the web surfing to be satisfactory.
So I am not sure that they are going to make any kind of fix so that Zonealarm and AVG work together with all options enabled. |

| reply to Zak_ Just my two cents - my brother and I are unable to install AVG 9 free version or the trial fancy version because of this zone alarm conflict. We are both using free versions of each - in my paranoia, I'm thinking they are trying to get (trick?) people into trying their jazzed up version (anti-virus & firewall & spyware checker) and paying for it. |

@btcentralplus.com | reply to Zak_ There are problems with both the latest versions of AVG and Zone Alarm for XP users. Best to revert to the previous versions in both cases. |
