| [360] Interesting xbox 360 networking issue
I am on my 4th XBOX 360 from Gamestop. While pulling out my hair, I found something interesting and not sure why it does this.
My first XBOX 360 was a used Elite with a bad network jack from Gamestop (no lights at all) and that was replaced with a Halo 3 edition. I had this hooked up to a Linksys 4 port hub which went to a Netgear 8 port switch which went to an Actiontec Verizon FIOS router. This worked well until the video died. Got 2 Pro models (one died with Red Rings of Death) and one would not connect at all. It wasn't until I plugged the XBOX into the wire from the switch directly. Seems this model doesn't like the extra hub in there. I was using it to also connect the Media Center PC right next to it.
Are the network jacks different in Xbox models? |

Sounds like the hub isn't forwarding DHCP to the router, if you truly want to run your 360 on a hub then set static IP settings and plug it back into the hub and see if it works then. |

clubs: | I wouldn't worry about it, running anything requiring a lower latency connection makes hubs unfriendly anyway. |
