Zywall 2, DNS not reporting correctly

Hi:
I have a Zywall 2, and the DNS is not reporting properly when I do ipconfig /all. I have tried it with the proper DNS Server IP entered in the Zywall and with the ipconfig /all cmd it provides the DNS IP from our previous ISP. I have the computer set to obtain. The I changed the Zywall to obtain from ISP and it still reports the previous IP and I have tried it with 3 different computers.

How can I get it to start using the correct DNS IP??

Thanks,
fox7

Goto LAN, then check what's in First, Second and Third DNS Server.
Setting it to DNS Relay is probably the best option.

Thanks for the FAST reply!! I tried what you suggested, but then it would not resolve anything, not even in a ping. But it changed what it was reporting in ipconfig /all to the routers (Zywall) address. So I went and entered the correct DNS IPs in the Zywall and the ipconfig /all is still reporting the Zywall's IP as the DNS, but now things are resolving really fast like normal. That is why I needed to get it changed, it was resolving painfully slow.

Thanks Brano, and if this does not give final resolution to the issue I will post again.

Thanks,
fox7

Once you change the DNS servers on ZyWall you have to do ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew to re-fetch new settings on each host.

Yea, I know to release. It seems I am doing this all the time

Why I am back on this thread now, is that now it is reporting the proper IPs for the DNS servers when I do an Ipconfig /all. It had been working since we worked on it, but now it is finally reporting the proper IPs. It may have been reporting properly yesterday, I didn't have time to check.

Thanks again for helping me!!
