BSA = Bandits Software Attack?

I welcome the BSA to come knocking. They'll be trespassed off my property just as quickly as they came. I'd love to hear what authority they claim to be able to demand an "audit" when they feel like it. For all they know I'm not using ANY commercial software -- it could all be open source. (If you're wondering, I'm a MS partner so all my on-site software is provided under license)

I'm not providing receipts, proofs of purchase, or invoices to anyone just because they asked for it. If it doesn't have a subpoena attached they can pound sand.

According to the article, your vendor or reseller offers you an audit free. They run some software---- which then reports back all the results to Microsoft and the BSA---- who then come knocking, and I think they bring the lawyers :/

i love how they dont think a COA is good enough. my question is if a small business bought some retail copies and lost the bestbuy recipt, what if they refuse to pay the BSA fine and say the retail box for each machine is enough proof.

though most online shops let you view all your past invoices which im sure they would have to accept as proof. unless they think someone like Newegg would doctor a saved invoice.

The BSA takes a "complaint" of piracy and goes to the FBI who show up at your door with a Federal subpoena and they haul all of your hardware out for an audit. That's what happens if you trespass them off of your property.
