| [TV] RCA TV has green spot
This TV isn't that old.... RCA 20F424T, ATC106 chassis. There is a green spot on the screen, just to the left of center.
Is there a degaussing coil built into this TV? I can't tell if it actually works or not, as I never hear it. However, it takes a few seconds from the time you turn the TV on, until you hear a CLICK and the screen lights up. |

| A magnetized shadow mask will produce fairly large, gradual, shifts in color, not a "spot", but then, that all depends on what you mean by a spot. Do you think someone may have deliberately held a magnet up to the screen? That's about the only way I can imagine getting a magnetized spot in the middle of it. Normally the problems with stray magnetic fields show up around the edges. Unshielded speakers are a prime offender. A spot in the middle is kind of unusual. Was the set subjected to any shock that may have dislodged the shadow mask? |

| No shocks that I am aware of. The spot is long and narrow.
My xBox360 sits next to the TV, but I don't think that is the cause because it has been doing this before that.
I need to see if I can borrow a degaussing coil or a bulk eraser to try to fix it I guess.... unless the TV has a degaussing sequence I could invoke from a service menu... -- "F is for Fire that burns down the whole town... | Heya Neonhomer (you do the air-balancing type work that is the bane of my existance at the pharma co. I work at (class 10,000 HEPA cleanroom suites))
FORWARNING: I have no idea if this is damaging to your TV, but I've done it numerous times, on numerous TVs with no ill effects...
As goofy as it sounds, an electric drill may help.
Fire the drill up close to the surface of the screen, then rotate in outward spirals from center until your a good foot or two from the outer edge of the TV.
Plug-in drills work best, and dont get too close to the screen.. You'll see some interesting color-warpage, but the goal is to "sweep" the colors out from center to off the screen.
This *should* take care of the green splotch problem, if not, then problem isnt a simple degaussing one.. Something has gone awry in the yoke, or shadowmask, or something.. (Probably some physical change, IE: damage)
Hope this helps!

I'd be suprised if the XBOX360 was the culprit.
