Hell to the Redskins

First some trivia
With Kansas City at 0-5, the Redskins are about to become the first team in NFL history to play six straight games against win-less opposition.

I don't see them winning against KC.
Not that KC is great, but they do give great effort, and dangling a very winnable game in front of them means the skins are in for a real fight.

You all know I've been harping on the state of their O-line.
Thomas going out really hurt, but now Samuels is out.
Heyer (God bless his soul) now shifts to left tackle.
To me that means we can subtract Cooley from the passing offense, he will have to do a lot of help blocking.

Mike Williams starts at RT, he should be OK there having lost over 100lbs from the time he was signed.

I'm hearing that Snyder would love Shanahan but then that doesn't make sense with hiring Sherman Lewis as an "offensive consultant". If that is a step to firing Zorn (and having an interim head coach in place already), then what do you do at the end of the season/ Keep him as OC when you get a different HC?

Things are a mess there. Carlos Rogers taking pot shots at the owner???? Is that saying "Let Me Outta Here!!"?

Sadly, it looks like an implosion is a hair trigger away, and this game could be it.

It's a real mess. To bad Snyder is hot for Shanahan, I'd rather see Dungy as head coach because I think he's a better man.

But Dungy is probably not the best match for Snyder all things considered.

Dungy would be thwarted and tarnished by Dannyboy. Billick or Cowher might not fare better, but either would get right in Snyder's face publicly about his meddling and at least prove to the universe beyond a shadow of a doubt that the root problem is Snyder's ownership.

And the suck part of it all? CBS has the broadcast rights to this week's game, rather than FOX, so I have no freaking alternatives to the Redskins debacle to watch.

SWEEEEEET! They lost video in Landover and have switched to the all-purple game.

That was short-lived. The Ravens aren't doing much better. And then KC got another field goal to tie it up. I guess it was good we missed that bit.

SAFETY!

I can smell the stench in Landover from Alexandria.

Redskins D needs to take the O out back and give them a beatdown.

I think the fans should get to take the O, Zorn, and Snyder out for a beatdown.

Today's game made my Catholic high school's football team of the 1960s look like Super Bowl material.

Even when they've eaked out a win, they've looked awful. Yet, even in today's loss, the Ravens looked fucking great. I'm not a Baltimore fan, but Flacco's looking amazing.

Yeah, the Ravens caught up and made a valiant attempt because they have guys who show up ready and eager to play. The Skins have too many overpaid divas who demoralize the guys who might actually be good players. That nincompoop, Zorn, does nothing to inspire the players.

Snyder needs to learn once and for all that you cannot buy a Super Bowl caliber team. All he's managed to do the last 10 years is prove that the more money you throw at something just makes things worse...and the more you try to monetize your fans, you just piss them even more since you can't deliver on the field.

With the history that Snyder and Cerrato have built up, I can't imagine one of the big names wanting to coach for them.

Even Zorn sort of came in through the side door. Remember, he was hired as offensive coordinator and promoted to head coach after Snyder spent a month trying to find a head coach.

Ravens came close, Hauschka missed the win with no time left. Not missing Matt Stover, he (while a great money kicker) didn't have the leg for that distance anymore without kicking so low that a lineman getting a hand on it was a real possibility.

Redskins, I don't really have much blame for Zorn. He is going to bear the brunt of it, but he was given a pretty inferior team with a couple of high priced flashy names.

The buck belongs pasted squarely on Snyder's forehead. Arrogance to think that your yes man (Vinny Cerrato) can build a solid winner without a lot of sharper honed skills and independence to use them.

Any quality coach, Shanahan/Cower/et.al. is going to have to be given front office control for them to even consider an offer. Not that head coaches have great success when they also take on the added responsibility of a GM (just look at Mike Holmgren), but the HC will have to be given the power to hire the GM, and the GM will answer to him. Either that or the organization has to be turned over to a Bill Parcels type, or the next head coach is not going to fare any better than Zorn has. Championships are built not bought.

That seems to be the one thing that Snyder can't get a grip on. On the other hand, I don't know that we would be any better off if Cooke's son had gotten the team.

Oh well, at least the Sunday and Monday night games have been pretty decent.

Zorn's underlying problem is he has no balls. He could deal with the divas by establishing dominance and making their lives living hells so they either play or leave. He could deal with the Snyder problem by capitalizing on Danny Boy's vanity and ego to get quality talent. That makes him inept as well as ball-less.

I can sure see your point, but I'm just not that harsh towards Zorn.
He is not a spittle coming out of the mouth Cowher type for sure, but his coaching style didn't look a whole lot different from Tony Dungy (or Marv Levy, or even Wade Phillips).

Difference is Dungy had Polihan who did things like take a lot of heat for drafting Edgerrin James, and Zorn gets Thomas/Kelly/Davis who have contributed about zilch.
Only blame I can squarely place on Zorn is stupidity for falling for the woo-ing sales pitch from a master pitchman.

I sometimes think he was a sacrificial lamb. Basically, they hired him as a placeholder until some bigger names became more available.

And who exactly would want to put their reputation on the line with Snyder?

Look, if Gibbs couldn't change Snyder, no one can.

Hey Snyder, if you can hear me now, you need to simply leave the team alone. Quit micro managing or else sell it to someone who really wants the Skins to be a winning team in the future. Oh and kick Vinnie, your boy, to the curb. Quick, don't look back just do it.

Now Zorn has had play calling duties removed. Hey, who knows, if this team could squeeze out a few points they'd have a winning record. Given their upcoming schedule, it probably doesn't matter.
