This was in todays email from NBC. I like the way this person thinks. Get rid of Vinny.

Snyder ain't going anywhere except for malfeasance (ala DeBartelo 49ers), but he really needs to become a hands-off owner. At least hands off all the football decisions, find somebody good and knowledgeable, hire them and don't require them to give "Dan the meddling fan" daily or weekly updates. (Holmgren as pure GM??)

But since Snyder is there for the long haul, we can be sure that other heads will roll. Zorn is caught up in the meatgrinder, the problem is higher than him.

I broke down the most easily seen and explained team problem ares (O-line) here »Re: the birds
Obviously there is a lot more but it is pointless to just pile on damning facts, when the core is meddling owner and a "GM" really out of his league.

Solution is not getting a new coach, it is finding an Ozzie Newsome and letting him have total control.

Who is the last great player the Redskins have "home grown"?
I'd say Chris Samuels (LT 6 pro bowls) and that was Charlie Casserly.
(I'm not going to go into giving up a 2nd Rounder for Jason Taylor and the aftermath of that except to say didn't he have a nice game back again for Miami last week )

If Cerruto stays, there is no hope

. . I don't know that we would be any better off if Cooke's son had gotten the team.
I don't know if they'd have been any better off or not either, but some things are for certain-- there'd be (and would have been for the past several years) different players on the field, different coaches on the sideline, and a front office that wasn't located around Daniel Snyder's desk.

(And the team might still be playing in Raljon rather than Snyrato.)

I think the biggest difference we'd have if they had stayed with Cooke is it would still be a fan-centric organization. Even when they weren't winning, fans in the Cooke days always felt good about the team and turning out for games. Snyder obliterated that homey, "we're all family" feeling within hours of closing the deal and turned it into a heavily programmed and "maximally monetizeable" operation (think: Disney).

Snyder counts on people coming to games simply because football is a must for so many and he just happens to have a stadium and team in the market. There is no joy like there was as recently as 1998. He really could care less if we enjoy the experience (to wit: the crap he's pulled over the years about parking and pedestrian access, and his latest tailgate exile farce; don't even mention the ever-more-absurd concession prices).

The "big business" feeling he's created could be excused if we were getting a consistent, quality product on the field. We've had nothing of the sort. I haven't gone to a game since 2002 because I refuse to give that greedy little Napoleon boy $150-$200 for something that invariably is simply not worth it.

Would it be a better deal if he gave out free Prilosec and Compazine?

I gave away some corporate club seats for free today.
I figured the game against the Giants on Dec 21 would mean something to a Giants fan, and he's a good guy anyway.

They have got to just start from scratch Admin wise

They have talent at core positions

But they need a rehaul from HC up

Agree.

A huge problem for the Redskins is a major lack of quality depth. Money is spent on core positions for sure, but when injuries occur, there is a major drop off from the "step-up" pool of players.
Betts is ok for Portis, and Collins for Campbell, and 3 real decent CBs is very nice, but injuries happen and the consistently good teams have people that step up into a starting slot. And the Redskins stink at this.

Couple of tangent thoughts that tie in...

Notice how superbowl winners seem to have their rosters raided? Part of this is that players when they have won it want to be paid, and teams face decisions of increasing stars salaries and losing their back-up core or letting some of the people who carried them there walk away.
(Pity we haven't had this discussion about the Redskins in ages).
Look at some of the linebackers that the Steelers have lost.
Joey Porter, Kevin Greene, Levon Kirkland, Greg LLoyd, Chad Brown (that is 16 Steeler pro-bowls there) then you can throw in Faneca, Plaxico, Randel-El, Chris Hope, Kemo Van Oelhoffen, Kendrell Bell....

I know I'm preaching to the choir LOL, but just re-making the point that the entire philosophy of running the team HAS to change, and it starts with Danny-boy's buying a championship taking a long vacation.

I'm not saying that a final piece can't be bought (as the Vikes are trying with Favre), but the Redskins haven't been one piece away since Timmy Smith's superbowl record.

I've never understood how the Redskins were managed. They have some of the tuest fans in the NFL. I mena, how many losing seasons does a fan have to put up with? I'm not an NFC fan, can't stand the Redskins but looking at the team, they have some good players, they always have had good players... just not in the key places they need to be. I thought this year and last year they stood a better chance at winnging, at least making it as a wild card in the playoffs... I also don't think Zorn is totally at fault for this.
