I was wrong.
I re-rolled a dual-wielding noble dwarf and played for 3-4 hours earlier before other duties called. I'm really digging it so far.

I have the following system and it's not as smooth as I'd like at 1920x1080. My CPU frequently spikes to 89% or so total usage. That is across all 4 cores! My CPU hovers around 50% total usage on average. I know my video card is relatively weak, but I don't have anything like FSAA turned on.

Core 2 Duo Q9300 (2.5GHz)
8GB RAM
nVidia 9600GT OC 512MB

Like pretty much everyone says get it on PC if you have one that can meet (or beat) the recommended specs, but the PS3 version at least for me has been fine (once you get used to the controls).

Side question - anyone know if DA on PS3 supports mouse / Keyboard? I also can't believe I didn't buy it for the PC. I am an old hard core PC gamer and RPG's are meant for the PC. But, in my old age, a Lazy Boy and big LCD are a hard combo to pass up on.

I think that might be part of it. Bioware offers a "unique" RPG experience, nothing else is like it. Some people like it, some hate it. I like it because it's much more story driven, but again, I've only played this one about 30 minutes so I might be right back in here agreeing with you when I get some time to really dive in. :)
I would imagine it will pick up. I am playing as an elf mage, and I spent 2 hours running around the tower. Just a slow start. :)

I meant more this specific type of RPG? Did you enjoy Neverwinter Nights and Balder's Gate? In my limited play so far, I see elements of both, but with much better graphics and tons more voice.

Yeah I got it on PS3 last night and can see the points made. Only played an hour, and seemed ok with the controller, but wasn't as natural as a keyboard / mouse combo for sure.

That the game really was built for PC controls. On the PC version, you can go into that "top-down 75-degree angle" view that is so reminiscent of Balder's Gate and NWN. On the consoles, you only get a 3rd person view behind a single party member at a time and have to cycle through your other party members with a button. Having played both BG and NWN, I couldn't imagine being stuck in a 3rd person view like the video showed. If you watch the video review, almost all of it except for when they show the console limitations was taken on the PC.

They said it was definitely playable, but if you have a choice, the PC version will offer the best experience and absolutely better graphics if your system supports it.
