Setting it higher than that (if it even lets you) is not going to help anything, and might even make things break if you try to run a server that needs to be accessed from the internet (if the server does not like fragmented packets).]]></description>

It depends on what else you have on your network that might be sensitive to a particular MTU.  By default move MS OS' will use whatever the DHCP server puts out, but that can easily be overridden.
