the most interesting thing that I found out about the whole "antivirus 2009" software fiasco was that it was a ploy by the russian mafiaa to extort money from idiots
It involves a little more than that since they use stolen credit card information to purchase new domain names and then use these to sucker in more people. All of this is beyond just stealing your credit card information so this can be sold or used for other miscellaneous purchases. All in all, it's an impressive scam.
