We are both aggravated.
DeadlyKnight posted : I'll try that next time but for now, everything works fine. It has been at least 48 hours that I am troubleshooting this connection and modem. Last night, I was desperate so I hit that reset button in the back, which I had done days ago. Seems like the first time, it only rebooted. This time around, it really went to factory defaults and from there on, I just used Windows to set up a home or small office network. Did the same on my roommate computer. Created a new connection on both (always on). Tried my Wii. Tried the Nintendo DS. Everything works fine. Didn't mess with the firewalls so far. I did change my RWIN and his to the TCPoptimizer optimized settings which sets it way higher than the 65k default. I changed a value in the 'Tcp1323Opts' registry key, from 1 to 3 (enabling the three options including Windows scaling and Time Stamp).

The only problem we encountered so far, was that once a web browser had been opened, the page which appeared was one of the 2Wire saying that a third-party router had been spotted. Asking if we wanted to keep it working behind the other router or resolve the problem. We clicked resolve and what it did, was put the hosting computer (mine) in DMZ mode, basically opening all ports. I switched it back to Maximum protection on all consoles and computers, and asked my roommate to not click 'resolve' next time.

Have any clue how to come around this problem? My Nintendo USB key (since Nintendo DS Lite only accepts WEP), has been spotted as a router but it has been linked to my modem during the installation. Don't know if it can be called a 'bridge' or not but it seems fine the way it was set up.

Thanks a great deal for your help so far. I'm scrapping all my days off for this...it's driving me crazy.

DeadlyKnight posted : *Update*

Both mine and my roommate computers are appearing as being inactive on the main page of my modem interface. Still, I have access to Internet.

Just did some tests on my roommate computer which just got Internet back, and the diagnostics console within WinXP, tells me that FTP would be the problem and most probably, block by firewalls.

How would I enable this on both our firewalls, plus my modem internal firewall? Is it a good idea to do it?

Also, doing a ping test on his computer, he sends out 100 packets but receives only about 86. He loses 14% instead of 100% like yesterday. His Jitter is really high at 121 ms and his ping is also high at 61.

When I look at both our computers results, it seems we are using the same IP address. Is it because I am sharing my Internet access with him?

As for my Wii,

Error Code: 52231
There appears to be an issue with your wireless router's firewall.

To ensure wireless interference is not causing the problem, click here to review our "Slow Downloads or Errors Received While Connecting" help.
It is possible that your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is not compatible with the Wii console. For instance, if you need to login with a user name and password when you try to go online for the first time after restrarting your PC, your ISP is likely not compatible. Please contact your service provider for more information.
If this error occurs regularly, while you are playing at home, it is likely a connection problem related to your firewall settings. For more information on firewalls, click here.
Comcast users, please click here to view the Wireless Routers with Comcast-branded firmware which we have identified as being potentially incompatible with the Wii console.

Are you using a Netgear brand wireless router? Our expeirence shows disabling the "SPI Firewall" of the router may help the connection. The "SPI Firewall" option is typically found under the "WAN Setup" tab of the router's settings. For information on accessing your router's settings, please click here and select the model of the Netgear router you own (if available).
If you are still receiving this error code, please click here for assistance.

As you can see, every single problem is aiming at firewalls. Maybe we need to focus on that.

By the way, I'll be updating my firmware to the latest from 2Wire, seeing that Bell sent me a new one. I won't care if this one gets burnt :p.

DeadlyKnight posted : Ok...I'm really getting annoyed here. I lost connection for everything, even my computer for a moment and I've been gone for only four hours. My router detected a third-party router and asked me if I wanted the problem resolved. I clicked yes and what it did was putting me into DMZ plus mode. I do not want that so I disabled it and went back to ' Maximum protection – Disallow unsolicited inbound traffic.'. If you go to the application control main interface, it says:

Current Settings: Default
To allow users on the Internet to connect to a computer inside your secure home network, you must configure the Home Networking Modem’s Application settings.

I guess that might be one of the sources for all these problems.
Issues with 2Wire 2701HG-G

DeadlyKnight posted : Greetings!

With great hopes that someone out there will be able to clear these several issues I am having with my connection, here are my problems.

First of,here are the results from my diagnostics in 2Wire 2701HG-G Gateway modem:

DSL Synchronization: No DSL signal was found
G.DMT Signal: No DSL signal was found
PVC Connection: -
PPPoE Service: -
PPP Authentication: -
IP Connection: -
DNS Communication: -

However, these goes up here and now. I was not having any problems until just now with my own computer, which is linked by Ethernet to the modem. Having said that, my roommate which is wirelessly connected to my modem through a DLink adapter, is constantly losing his connection either on Internet or on his Nintendo DS. Our Nintendo DS are connected through my Nintendo USB connector and both are also dropping (had to use that since the DS light does not accept anything else than WEP). As for my Nintendo Wii, same problem. As for the PS3 and PSP, both will connect to the access point just like any other systems we are using but just won't connect to the Internet, or does, and soon after loses the connection.

I really am lost here. I have tried many things and my ISP nor Sony is being helpful here. Telling me stuff I knew years ago which really does not solve anything. I know where the control panel is for crying out loud -_-'. Every troubleshooting guide I have been through have proved to be total failures.

Anyway, hopefully there are some professionals in here which will guide me to the exact solution.

More info:

-WPA2-PSK with a passphrase.
-Added all the MAC addresses there was to be added.
-Disabled both mine and his firewall.
-AVG Anti-virus on both computers.
-Network adapters: Nintendo WI-FI USB connector/1394 Net adapter/NVIDIA nForce Networking controller

Any other information, please do ask. I shall be back in a couple of hours if my modem allows it.

Thank you in advance!

Best regards,
D-K

P.S.: I did some diagnostics again:

DSL Synchronization: UP
G.DMT Signal: UP
PVC Connection: Could not find an ATM circuit
PPPoE Service: -
PPP Authentication: -
IP Connection: An Internet address could not be obtained
DNS Communication: Unable to contact the Domain Name Server
