1 edit | reply to Mauricio Re: In-depth analysis of line stats
Those stats were from yesterday until 6 am today. Pretty noisy and unstable at night. Perhaps interleave is the only option. The way I see it, a slight noise burst is enough to disrupt the connection even if it had a decent SNR value (13-14).
Those line stats are from a few moments ago. The SNR was quite high and stable for 5 minutes. All of a sudden it drops to -2, hovers a little bit and finally the modem loses sync. Rinse and repeat 20 minutes later.
Overall, pretty bizarre. |

| Perhaps "bizarre" but at least that's graphically explicit!

I think this passage might help to complete the picture:

One instance of 'RouterStats' could suffice, after all:

Are you trying to use those numbers?...
Maybe they don't refresh often enough.

| I am using the third column 176 DSL uncorrected Blocks. It reports CRCs over time. It is not the total sum of CRCs since the modem has been reset. Here's a graphical representation so far.
I do see a certain pattern. Tell me if it makes sense or not. |

In case of trouble DSLRocker or Wayjac might be able to assist but it looks like you've configured it correctly already!

Looks to be working well so far. Time to sit back and relax. |

It was set to the default 20 seconds. It is now at 15 seconds. |

| reply to Mauricio I know there's the fear of loosing what you've patiently accumulated but you'll find it's dynamically configurable: the display ranges can be adjusted while the application continues to record, etc...

| Alright. Thanks again Bicephale ! Taking a well-deserved break away from the computer. I will be back later on. It's the modem's time to work hard. |

 | Up to scale |
Minor update : Check out that major interference...
CRC count was close to 50 000. Notice the scale ! |

I'd say you're one of the many persons to find out that their phone-line has "multiple personalities"! It will complicate your future attempts to compare noise levels relatively to testing RF Chokes but the task still seems feasible to me.

| reply to Mauricio One comment about the auto-scaling feature in 'RouterStats': be it a hundred or a hundred thousand RxCRC errors in fifteen seconds, the effect on your connection is probably the same.
Personally, i "chop the top" in order to make the lesser details more visible... If, per say, you manually adjust the height to fifty RxCRC errors per sample then this should preserve most of the curve's shape while the explosive bursts would remain visible as a "saturated" section. Moreover, i'm not even sure that past this level the amplitude is really meaningful anyway as this could very well correspond to some FirmWare glitch (i have seen signs of such anomalies before under the form of discontinuous voids separated by high probability "pockets").
