Re: CoD: MW2 To Not Support Dedicated Servers Or Mods

One person close to the company said it also was considering adapting Call of Duty as a massively multi-player online world. The genre, in which Activision's Blizzard Entertainment subsidiary is a leader, requires huge upfront investments but can be very profitable as players pay a monthly subscription fee.

Just as I suspected....

The chances of me buying this ame to begin with were very slim. The fact that it will be priced at $60 for PC at release, and the fact that i'm getting tired of the Call of Duty series is the reason why.

However, this is the nail in the coffin.
Please let me know the brand of nails you use because it was either rusted or they're terrible, because the coffin was opened pretty quickly in your case!

And I just don't understand the mass exodus to console. I played console for years before switching to PC. The skill level and intensity of PC gaming completely blows away console gaming. Must just be the n00bs that can't figure out PCs.
I think part of it is cost. I can buy a brand new console and be ready to play in minutes for about $300 and play the latest games. It takes significantly more money and time to get a PC set up that can do the same, especially starting out. To be able to play games anymore on my PC, I'm looking at an entire new systems for the most part. That is why I'm probably going to get a PS3.
Really?! It's funny you say that because cost is the reason I DONT own a console. You figure 300 for the console. Since I dont have a flat HD TV that would be another 400 (Wouldnt be able to stand using a regular tv) and thats the bare minimum. Really I would want some good speakers to go with it too. Now games pfff 60 bucks a pop...

I pay less than $60 on gas and electricity each month. I don't feel comfortable paying more for a game than I do for gas and electricity.

You've been very aggressive, bordering inappropriate, in the other thread, with people calling on you. You were vocal about your disappointment, then few days later vocal about people saying exactly what you said in the first place.

I found the whole thing to be very impolite - you can't scream bloody murder for a day, be happy that people agree with you, then a few days later do a complete 180 degrees turn and practically insult others who now disagree with you. It's hypocrisy at its finest.

You can ignore me if you wish, it changes nothing on how you behaved towards the users of these forums. What did you expect were to happen? Your change of mind was unexpected, and I'm sure you knew it was going to be unpopular as well. The fact it was gonna be unpopular isn't the issue, for everyone is entitled to speak their minds. But going after the users who countered your arguments so aggressively, nope, doesn't fly with me. If you thought no one would comment on it you were very naive.

Holy shit...Just seen it on steam 59.99 are they farking high?Really even if they had the public servers in wtf are they high?No game is worth that.....
I was thinking almost that same thing. I am getting the game for MP because COD SP sucks balls. a MP FPS is not worth 59.99. I don't plan to get this and will stick to playing W@W
I did not follow the game until a few days after launch and after my cold was over I decided to check the price out $60 I was like OK.. then decided to read here and that's when i heard about the features removed :-/ glad I checked out here first.

I might pick it up later then it's like $39 but not $60...

I have not owned a console since the early 90's.

I wasn't impressed with the original COD for PC and found modable and expandable games like the Battlefield series to be the better series.

I never played the single player game, just online.

I've heard that this new COD modern warfare 2 (console only?)is completed very quickly (as in beatable in 4 hours?). . .and without dedicated servers or modifications . . . if it were in the PC market, it would not last long after the initial buzz wore off.

I tend to get alot more enjoyment out of PC games for some reason. The console games . . . just don't appeal to me anymore.

Rent it if you have a console otherwise don't buy it for the SP at all.
I completed the SP in about 11 hours on the PS3 on the hardest level you could set. The SP is a blast to play and the new weapons and maps are great but the SP is done pretty quick.

I didn't play the MP at all so I won't comment on the gameplay of that.

Honestly not sure how it's doing in the PC market, would be cool to actually see some stats on how many players a day are on it compared to the other COD's.
