Re: CoD: MW2 To Not Support Dedicated Servers Or Mods Codemasters did the same thing with Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising. No dedicated server support or mod tools. The community is in an uproar about it.
Don't know what the deal is with gaming companies these days giving PC gamers the shaft.
I have to ask... is COD:MW2 going to be on the console as well? If so, that makes a lot of sense why ded. server/mod tools are not being released. OFPDR has a console version as well, which is damn identical to the PC version. What IW has done is made the console version then make the PC version pretty much a copy but not a direct port. It is looking like they took the same method as Codemasters did with OFPDR.
Just wait till the game comes out and see how the menus are setup and the MP browser. It will look exactly like the console version. I'd put money on that wager. The MP experience is going to be trash and laggy as hell with ordinary people hosting the session on their PC's with limited upload bandwidth.
PC gaming sales have gone down I'm guessing, so they are pulling this BS. Well, they'll go down even more now.
Also, don't expect much mod support if they pull the same crap OFPDR did. They way they have their files packed you cannot extract them properly to modify them. There is very limited modding going on with OFPDR, very basic stuff since that is all we can do. | | |

When a game is released for all platforms (PC and console) it seems the console will get higher sales of said game.
I don't have any proof to back it up, just seems it is going this way from. This is about the only thing I found in my limited time of searching.

i agree with the premise of consoles selling more games but truly no one has accurate PC sales figures.
NPD, which is quoted in the article you linked, only looks at brick and mortar sales. it does not even account for online-only stores like amazon, newegg, or gogamer, let alone Steam, D2D, etc. valve has never released any steam sales or money figures for anything ever, besides listed the most popular games purchased and how L4D2 shattered their previous pre-order record for an in-house game.
some people estimate steam sales almost rivaling the NPD numbers by itself.
speaking as someone in many pc online gaming communities, we hardly ever buy retail games. when we do, it's usually through gogamer.com, amazon, etc. we're not against buying from stores, but sales tax sucks and online is usually cheaper even after shipping.
