1 edit | Is Gear Score now the new requirement to get pug invite?
Last few weeks I was trying to get in pug with my dk to do some 10 or 25man raid (toc, ony, voa, etc). I whispered for invite and most of the time I didn't get an answer. I didn't see this happened before. So one time I logon to my ret pally and whispered to the same guy who was LF dps. I got the invite. The raid leader said he still need couple of dps. So I asked him "Do you want dk? He said "yes, they love dk because of their high dps output". Then I said my friend whispered you earlier for invite and didn't get a reply. He said because his gear score is not high enough. I didn't see this new requirement in the past until maybe someone wrote an addon to check gear score and now people use it to check if they are geared or not. I had seen people spamming LF dps with gear score with 4000+. Some even said require 4500+.
Not only raid, the most common one is heroic toc that people check gear score as well. |

The answer is: Most of the time, yes. |

| reply to Alexoi Gearscore is the new DPS.
Instead of people spamming LFG or Trade with arbitrary DPS claims they now spam their gearscore as the base credential for joining a raid.
I think it's just the easiest way for lazy raid leaders to inv/decline people to their parties. While gear does come into play in some instances (I wouldn't want a bunch of T7 geared people in a ToGC-25 run), it certainly doesn't tell the whole story about a player's capabilities.
I just say oh well when people ask for GS, there's always another pug out there! -- We are losing the war on drugs. You know what that implies? There's a war being fought and the people on drugs are winning it. What does that tell you about drugs? Some smart, creative people on that side; they're winning a war, and they're f`d up! |

Exactly if you said your 4,500-5,000 rated on my server people would laugh at you and you'd never get an invite. They work with wow-heroes so it's impossible to get that kind of a score. |

| reply to Alexoi While it is silly that people gearscore for naxx10 for most content I'm interested in running if the pug leader invites immediately without checking my gearscore I've found the pug is 10x more likely to fail. I use the gearscore addon that is popular on many servers but wow-heroes is a more useful # (the gearscore addon only considers item level of the gear you have equipped - in my PvP gear I have 5300 gearscore but I wouldn't invite someone in full PvP gear for totgc). |

Easy decision imo - known quality > numbers I ran voa 25 with a pug last night. Myself and one other mage. My gear score according to the addon was just under 4700. His gear score was equal to mine. Both of us were arcane mages.
I finished #3 overall DPS for the raid. He finished #12 or #14 or something. My average dps was just under 5k while his was barely at 3500.....

But, as far as Mal'Ganis goes thats all I ever see when I'm in LFG or Trade chat. Something along the lines of "LFM (Raid) GS 4500+ and link Achievement or ignore." |

| reply to Alexoi Many of us understand its not all about the GS numbers, but some people only see in black and white. To those people your either good or bad, and (obviously) if you've farmed all T9 you must be 'leet!
Most of us know that's NOT the case. I have a Mage friend in full T9 and SUCKS. I decided to go with the badge gear, and still rocking Naxx trinkets... and absolutely rape him on meters. I don't care if you have a GS of 1000 or 3000.... if you don't now your rotation you're a baddie. |

1 edit | reply to Alexoi Tried to get into a Ulduar 10 pug the other day, running 4500+ gearscore, was booted bc RL said gearscore wasn't high enough. Bad thing is when I told him I am already 2pT9 and 2pT8.5 got a reinvite due to his mod not working properly. Left the raid though when they said doing hard modes and most ppl hadn't even been to Ulduar. |
