My cable internet infastructure is stuck at docsis 2.0, doesn't support ipv6, and with charter still bankruptcy, docsis 3.0 seems way off.
You do NOT need DOCSIS 3.0 to run IPv6 over the cable network. For DOCSIS 3.0 IPv6 has been mandated for certain backend management functionality though.
