Broadband Modem (Hardware) → [DSL] Best Modem for Gamer

This is my first post so be easy on me

I am looking to buy a new DSL modem because I have been having problems with my westell modem.

-My provider is AT&T
-I live within ~6000 miles of my providers CO (At least I think so because I filled out the check availability form on the AT&T website and it said I qualify for 6mpbs)
-I am currently on the 3 mpbs plan

What I value more is reliability more than speed or even to some extent latency. I play a lot of online games (including an MMO) and I really just want to have as little disconnects as possible.

Also should I get a ADSL +2 modem?

I know DSL modems last a while so anything not absurdly expensive should be fine (in the $100 range).

Also as a side question are Modem/Router combos good? I have heard mixed things about them.

Also can you guys recommend a good reliable router, my belkin router is getting long in the tooth as it is not even N.

If you are having frequent disconnections another modem will usually NOT fix that problem as it is usually a indicator of telephone line problems or distance problems instead.

disconnects can usually be blamed on the router more often than the modem, but the line coming in can be to blame more than those two devices. It depends, a call to your ISP to troubleshoot never hurts.
