Hmmm, there is not a lot to find on that subject out there is there. I believe some settings are stored here- userprofile\application data\microsoft\outlook\ but dont quote me on that. |

You are looking for the *.pst file. Save the orig. as 'backup.pst', then when you place on the other machine, name as 'Outlook.pst'
This is the directory that it is placed in for Vista C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst |

MS Save My Settings Wizard: » support.microsoft.com/kb/826809Can you import the data into Office 2007? I don't know, but am assuming you can. |

Yes, same way as 2k3. |

According to that KB article the Save My Settings Wizard does not save the following:
*.ost *.pab *.pst *.tmp \Microsoft\Word\*.ASD \Microsoft\Word\*.WBK |

I'm fairly certain the .pst file does not save the account settings (i.e., pop, smtp settings, user name, password, etc), merely the data itself (mail, contacts, calendar items, notes, tasks). |

That is correct. There is no way to save the server info. Now, you can save the above mentioned files as I have done when I went from 2000 to 2003. |

Ouch. If someone could create a program that would pull the registry info, instead of pulling it, and moving it over to another machine manually, that would be fine. Interesting was the word for that post. |

There was mention of a couple third party applications in the thread that would do the trick (at least in Outlook 2003) but none of them would store the password on the account. |

File Import and export Export complete mail settings and files (don't recall exact wording right now).
You have to di it for each individual account.
Install new outlook
File Import and export Import complete mail accounts one at a time
It's really quite simple. |

I don't think so -- but nice try. Of course, if you would like to show screenshots of this to prove me wrong, then I'd be more than happy to eat my words. |

Thanks for all the posts.
MSeng...no worries about eating your words, the import won't import saved account/server settings from Outlook installed on another workstation.
Looks like the only possibility is a third party app (don't know of any off hand)...but, unfortunately, have to make the move now. |
