WNR2000 and 300MBPS

I've been ignoring the 802.11n world for the last few years and I recently installed a NetGear WNR2000 which is set to up to 300mbps. I also have an Acer Aspire with built in Atheros ARB591 802.11n (draft) adapter. Everything is working but it's only connecting at 150mbps instead of 300mpbs. Can anyone point me to an faq or something that explains any details and gotchas that I'm probably currently iggnorant of? I've been googling but haven't found much.

I have the WNDR3700 and a Aspire 5735Z laptop with the same wifi chipset and i only get 150mbps also..... the 3700 has two wifi radios in it one is 2.4Ghz and the other is 5Ghz this laptop can only see the 2.4Ghz side, however my gf's latop that is a gateway can see both 2.4Ghz and the 5Ghz side of the router...

Enlightener...in order for the WNR2000 to transmit @ 300Mbps you must first log in to the router's configuration page, on the left hand side under Setup click on 'wireless settings', and select 300Mbps in the 'mode' drop down box.

. . .I'm hoping I'm not redundant and this helps. .
